  1. For those that have cruised Dream recently, What time (give or take) has the muster drill been done? On my last cruise our muster drill was done during sailaway and I was rather disappointed.

Also, I have read that the drill now consists of reporting to a lounge area without life vests and listening to instructions. Is that all there is to it, and about how long does it last?

    Thanks!

  2. We had one of those on our Dream cruise. It stays a bed for the week. It is not like a sleeper sofa that folds out, so it does not take up more room than when it is a couch. It is very comfy and has normal bedding - sheet and comforter - just like the twin/queen beds in the cabin. Here is a pic of one...

PS: We take our son's pillowcase of Lightning McQueen - that is all he needs to realize it is 'his' bed for the week & is familiar. Enjoy!

The pillowcase idea is a great one! I think that would definately help him feel comfortable, without us having to pack anything significant.

I'm trying to envision the room from that picture. If I am correct, the main bed would be behind the camera holder in that shot, yes?

  3. Another Dream question...

In the rooms that sleep three, with the third being the covertible couch... How exactly does that work? Is it switched back and forth? Will it be a bed for the duration of the cruise?

And what is the bedding like on the couch?

My 3 year old son will have the couch and he still naps, so leaving it as a bed would most likely be the best way for us. I'm also wondering if he would be more comfortable with some sheets or blankets from home. I'm probably not giving him enough for credit for being adaptable, and thinking too much into this, I'm a bit of a neurotic when it comes to planning...

  4. A few quick questionsfor my fellow Dreamers...

About the food in the Lido buffet... My understanding is that outside of the specialty areas (pizza, Tandoori, Italian) the main buffet itself changes it's offering daily based on a theme (asian, mexican, carribean). Do I have that right?

Is there always "standard American fare" - burgers, fries, chicken -available? I'm concerned about my 3 year old son. While he has always been very open to trying new things, just lately he has started to become a bit more picky. DW is also very picky about what she eats. Me... I'll eat anything, but I'd like to be prepared for the possibilities if I can.

So what do they have at these buffets?

  5. And another hint - take a look at what you are packing (clothes-wise) and at least cut it in half.

I started to do this and then I realized I had misunderstood... Anyone have a suggestion on what I should do with half of a pair of shorts?

    ;)

Seriously though... has anyone reading stayed in the forward most balcont cabins? We're in 7209 and 7215. I'm wondering if that makes for a lot of motion, anchor noise issues, or any other concerns I may need to be prepared for?

  6. We will be going on the Dream in Sept 24th. Can anyone tell me if the steakhouse cost $30 is the only cost someone told me that they charge for all the extras. Also Is the Steakhouse good I heard it was but would like to hear from someone that has actually been. I have alot of meal questions and drink question.

Is water available or do you have to buy it -- drink cards or passes are they available ( non achohlic drinks only )

At the meals someone also told me that if you did not like what was on menu that you could ask for something else ex: if you wanted lobster every night could you get it?

    Sorry for all the questions?

Thanks for any help that you can give

Shyla, we have a very active Roll Call for that cruise here:

Feel free to join in if you'd like. Some are more rowdy than others, but we're all a friendly bunch!

  7. Will be in 6184 for our Dec 09, 2007 cruise.

On the Deck Plan, I can clearly see that the elevators will be close to the room, but there is also something else further forward. What exactly is that? Stairs?

And if anyone has stayed in such close proximity to the stairs (if that's what they are) and elevators, has noise been an issue for you?

Dannzigg, I am sailing on the Legend on 08/19. I am staying in room # 6186. I will let you know how the noise is from the elevators and stairs are. This was a concern of ours as well.

Hoping to hear back from you, or anyone else who may know :)

  9. I'm planning the third family cruise (DW and In Laws) which will likely be on the Legend. I have a few questions, and you folks here were extremely helpful in planning my first two cruises.

    So here, we go...

On the Legend, I see two different categories of balcony cabins. What exactly is the difference between an "extended baclony" and one that is not? On our last cruise, we had balcony cabins on the Glory, and will never do without a balcony again.

I see on the Carnival website, a listed itinerary for the Legend that includes Key West, Nassau, Ocho Rios, and Grand Cayman, but there are no sailings listed. Does anyone know if/when this itinerary might be available?

On our first cruise, aboard the Inspiration, the buffet was open much later than on the Glory. The Glory had the pizza station open late, but not much else. Is this the "new" way of doing it, or is it different from ship to ship? DW is a very picky eater, and usually doesn't eat much at dinner, so the buffet is an all important part of our cruise. So who remembers when the buffet was open on the Legend?
