Some have sofas. Most don't. What ship?
Carnival Dream
-
Currently booked for this room type in August -- deck 6, room 6204. I cannot get a straight answer from Carnival and have found conflicting information online. Can anyone WHO HAS RECENTLY SAILED IN THIS ROOM TYPE confirm or deny whether these rooms have a sofa???
I realize that this is considered an "interior" room and that most interiors don't have sofas. But its also my understanding that these rooms are not your typical interiors, hence the window with the walkway view.
Thanks in advance for any help.

So how does Fulton work? We've always parked at the port. Does the shuttle drop you off in front of the terminal? And do they pick you up in the same location? Do you have to call to be picked up? A little nervous about trying something new.
Also, I agree that while $40 per day is way more expensive than $20 for day, why would I pay $140 to park when I can pay <$85 to park?
Its crazy how different states with different quality of life (average income vs average expenses) make such a big difference.
-
Yes! For comparison, parking at Fulton for the week is less than $85.

I just read on the Port of New Orleans website (http://portno.com/parking) that effective on June 1st, 2016, parking will be $20 per day. We have always parked at port, but with this newest change (prices have already recently increased from $16 to $18 per day), I have JUST decided that from here on out, Fulton Garage will be getting our business. $140 for parking for a 7 day cruise is RIDICULOUS! Hope this information helps someone plan their budget!

Priority number one is value for the money. I work hard all year to be able to afford to go on a vacation. If Carnival ever started charging money for food (or eliminated free food in MDR) OR for entertainment, we're done. I also require being able to cruise out of New Orleans because we can drive there.
-
Yup!! I would definitely say that's substantial. That's awesome. Now that I know how that little trick works, I'm going to check it all the time. Do you know when before the cruise they will no longer honor the price drops?
3 days prior to sailing.

And glad that this post helped you! 😁😁

Thanks for posting this! Although I don't know what the big deal is since the deposit is going to be paid eventually anyway. I booked a b2b under the $99 deposit sale and the other day the price dropped on one of them $100. I submitted the form instead of calling my PVP because I thought it was a simple and straightforward drop. It went through just an hour later and I never gave it another thought. After reading this post I realized I had forgotten about the whole deposit thing. Checked and sure enough it said I had a $400 deposit due on Jan. 25! I paid it right away, but I wonder how long it would have been before they just canceled the booking???
Yes!! This exact thing happened to me LAST YEAR. For that reason, this year, I called the price drop in and payed the rest of the deposit on the phone. I didn't want to risk getting my booking canceled.

I do not assume that at all. I have cruised several times. I always book Early Saver. Sometimes there are price drops. Sometimes there are not.
The whole point that I am trying to make is that I had a price drop on my next cruise and it took place right after the $99 deposit sale, which would require people to pay the full deposit. Furthermore, this is taking place around the time that people are starting to get tax refunds. It just felt a little shiesty. Like a trick. Obviously Carnival can't MAKE anyone pay the full deposit to get the price drop, but they are sure hoping that people will. That's all.

On my last cruise on the Elation, I had rust colored water come out of the sink. Shower ran clear water. I went to Guest Services and they sent a plumber and it was fixed within 10 minutes. I have no idea what could be causing the issue but I would suggest that you politely insist that they send a plumber to your room.
-
Another point would be that SOME people don't have enough money on hand to pay the large deposits, in which case they end up paying a higher price for the cruise - because they aren't able to take advantage of the price drops...
But Carnival ALSO has all this going smack at the beginning of TAX SEASON!!
Now that my deposit is paid in full, I am kind of hoping that there will be another round of cheap deposits, quickly followed by price drops!!!
-
I don't sail until November, but I also had a price drop this morning! Saved $160 between two rooms. $100 on a single occupancy interior (4C) and $60 on double occupancy cove balcony (7C).
-
I think it is a fairly large coincidence that these price drops are happening RIGHT after the $$99 deposit sale. Carnival is being sneaky in trying to get everyone to pony up the full deposit.
I had a price drop as well and went ahead and paid the full deposit to get the price drop.. The deposits have to be paid eventually anyway and we saved $160 on two rooms.

As my husband pointed out, what we saved pays for our hotel!

Price drop for Nov. 6, 2016 on the Dream. Riiiiight after the $99 deposit sale. I did already know that when I called to get the difference I would be required to pay the rest of the deposit. No problem. I told my CS rep that its pretty smart of Carnival to do things this way. They know that during the $99 deposit sale, people may book and never be heard from again. But if they drop the price and get more people to make the investment of the full deposit, more than likely, those people will be on the ship.
In my case, I paid $800 in deposits today (that I would have had to pay before final payment date ANYWAY) BUT I saved $160 for two rooms (one cove balcony, and one interior). That's a win for me!!!

I always book within a ten months to a year of sailing.. I booked my FTTF for our November cruise this morning. Hope that helps.

My only reservation is that I know for a fact that in New Orleans, once you're through security and checked in, everyone is given a zone # and sits in a huge room. (VIFP'S segregated into their lounge, of course). Everyone waits to board and the room gets more and more full...until there is standing room only. The last couple of cruises I have been on (we go once a year), the room had completely filled before boarding started, well after 12:00 and closer to 1:00. While the staggered boarding may make getting through security, etc, more efficient, it won't help anyone get on the ship any sooner. From what I can tell, no new cruisers can get on until the previous sailing has debarked. Being on the room filled with people makes me incredibly anxious, (don't like crowds) so I think we will wait until after noon for our next cruise.

I have an Android phone, and downloaded the app the other day.. The information for the app in the Play Store is that it has added support for more ships.. You can read the reviews and see which ships are mentioned, or download the app, and it will provide a list of all the newly supported ships.

We had 2404 last year. No problems at all. Absolutely no issues. Love the cove balconies.

On our second cruise on the Elation, and the only one we got to take with my MIL before she passed away, we had a fantastic experience in the MDR. My BIL traveled with us. He was in his early 20's at the time, but is autistic. He had ordered a steak. When the meal arrived, my MIL began to cut BIL's meat for him. Our server immediately, gently, took the knife and fork from her. He quickly cut the meat into bite sized pieces, and when he was done, said simply, "Enjoy your meal."
My MIL was SO IMPRESSED that the server was so sensitive to our needs. It made a huge impression on her! 👍 👏 We have had room stewards since that were so sweet with my BIL, laughing and joking with him. Gerard, on the Elation, in particular. He asked to play with my BIL's Nintendo 3DS game system, and played with it for mere seconds before he said, "Well...I died!" BIL found this very humerous!

Hey everyone!
Just wondering if anyone has seen/heard any news on when the Carnival Hub app may be released on other ships. I have read the information on the Carnival website, and I know that in January, Carnival stated that it would be rolled out on other ships between 18 24 months.
However, I don't have Facebook, and wondered if anyone who follows John Heald has seen him mention this feature lately. We cruise on November 28th, and I don't know if I need to go ahead and purchase walkie talkies or not.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Try sending an email to shoreexcursions@carnival.com and ask them to release more spots for your sailing. Then stay on top of your email and keep checking the Carnival website for new spots!
Hope this helps!

If one pays a cash deposit for cruise funds, can you get any remaining funds from a kiosk at the end?!
I have read the horror stories about the long lines the last night of the cruise.
We have always used a debit card for our Sail and Sign Card, and never had any issues. But I also have heard horror stories about holds on accounts, fraudulent activity, etc.
So I am considering using a cash deposit for our next cruise. I don't want to be standing in line the last night of our cruise. So all I want to know is if you can get the cash remaining on your account from a kiosk on the last day.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I have found Carnival's schematic information, and it indicates no couch. However, my PVP provided me with a photo of the room right next to mine that shows a sofa, and schematics do not indicate that room should have a sofa either. I have looked online via VARIOUS Google searches with various terminology and checked YouTube multiple times. My PVP seems to have conflicting information as well. So I would really love to hear from someone who has actually cruised in this room recently.
