  1. I asked this same question and didn't get a reply. Kathy posted "Ken has left and gone home." I don't know if that means he resigned from the company or just left on vacation. I'm thinking she meant Ken has quit working for RCI.

I see in your signature that you're on BR in October. We are too, the 10-12-12 sailing, are you on then too?

Hi I just talked with Kenneth, he has left the company. Hated to see him go, he was one of our favorites. He said he needed to do something else. He will be missed.

  2. Catball,

Nadia did have a major uproar in the Concierge area on the first night, they told everyone that they could not serve alcohol or anything due to a NEW Texas Law!!! first it was relayed that we had to be outside the 12 mile limit, then 50 miles outside then another 30 mins. Nadia unfortunaly was the brunt of the uproar. After many people telling them this had never happened before and knew of no such law, they decided to serve the drinks.

None of the Senior Officers , including her boss came to back her up:(

She was a very good Concierge, and it was very unfortunate they did what they did, especially when they were serving drinks at the other bars, but you had to pay for them. She worked her tail off to help people, and even helped in the Pursers area if they were short handed and she was outside her Concierge hours:)

Thanks for the info. We have had that happen to us at one port and I know it wasn't Galveston. Doesn't mean something hasn't changed. Sorry to hear about that, at least her boss should have been there to support her if that was what they were saying.

  3. Nadia Gruber was in training as the new Concierge for the Mariner on the 10/26/11, 16 day transatlantic sailing. Her first sailing as a Concierge was the 11/11/11 sailing out of Galveston. She is wonderful! She is very personable, engaging and thoughtful. She used to be at the front desk and started as an assistant waitress. She has advanced quickly and I can see why. She's an asset to RCI! David

Will be on the Mariner in 8 days for 2 weeks, waiting to meet Nadia. I got an email from someone else and they were not as gracious as you were. Can't wait to make my own opinion on how good she is. Hope you are right. Thanks for the update.

  4. Now I'm really confused. When did SP get a CL? I thought EN was the only Vision class ship (so far) to have a CL?

Splendour has had a concierge lounge for a long time at least since 2006. We were on the first sailing and then the next sailing they closed it because there was to many to handle on a crossing. Then once they got it back to Galveston is was opened again. Kenneth Boodoo was the concierge for the whole time it was in Galveston. He was great also. Hope to see him again really soon.
