  1. Be very careful if you take out travel insurance with Allianz or their associated companies. If you are 85 or over, or have a relative 85 or over and need to make a claim, they will not reognise the claim. We recently had that experience when our Mum passed away (aged 90) whilst we were overseas and had to cancel a major part of the trip and return home. We are pursuing the matter as it is blatant aged discrimination in a time when the retired and elderly should be allowed to travel with the comfort of knowing they can get proper travel insurance coverage. I would suspect many younger aged travellers (like ourselves) have elderly relatives as well

  2. We always take out travel insurance whenever we do major trips like cruises or overseas holidays. We had a cruise earlier in the year and were called home early because my wife's mother took ill suddenly and passed away before we could arrive home. We took out insurance with Allianz Global Assist and they refused to pay our claim because they "dont recognise anyone over the age of 85 years". This is a disgrace and we have just been advised from Anti Discrimination Queensland Agency that it is discrimination on the basis of age.

Avoid Allianz Global Assistance travel insurance at all costs, as we have found since our experience, there are others who have lost many more dollars due to refused claims by Allianz

  3. Hi folks

Cathy and I come from Tasmania. We did our first cruise from Sydney to Seattle in April/May on MS OOsterdam. It was fantastic. We were planning to join MS Zaandm from Anchorage to Vancouver in May but had to rush home when Cathy's Mum fell ill. Unfortunately she passed away before we got home, so we are not only mourning the sad loss of Mum, but loss of a planned second half of a great holiday
