  1. My latest cruise is going to ports I have been to more than once and I am thinking I might just skip them all! drinks package, floating resort,no tender queues no elevator queues , no rushed breaky or late return pig out at the buffet before dinner.

    Anyone done this?

It seems everyone on a cruise ship cant wait to get off at a port but everyone on land wishes they were onboard the cruise ship lol.

I am thinking we could just treat this cruise as an all inclusive floating resort.

  2. We visited Sydney in 2013 and loved it. We are back in 2018 for two more cruises (NZ) and (Transpacific) and have six days in Melbourne and five in Sydney between cruises.

    Questions:

    1) I can't remember the name of the rooftop restaurant in the Rocks neighborhood with the great view of Circular Quay and the Opera House. It was on the West side of CQ and we had to walk up some flights of stairs. Food was good, but mainly bar food. Can anyone help me out?

    2) What is a good place in the Sydney, not too far from the Rocks, CQ and immediate area to find the Aussie meat pies that we love?

You may be referring to the Glenmore Hotel, nice spot on Cumberland St, http://theglenmore.com.au/, not sure about your pies though.

  3. Warning: don't buy the DVD, it is a complete waste of money. If you are lucky there is about 60-90 seconds of video of the cruise (from an 9-11 day cruise), the rest is made up from very old library footage. What you see on the tv in your stateroom is all the footage that will be on the DVD and it cost $29.95US.

The photos aren't too bad, $299 for a photo package for all photos that you gather yourself, this is worth it if you want to spend an hour or more a day waiting and posing at the various stations. We have bought twice, but had over 150 family photos from each cruise, so only worked out at $2US each or so.

  4. Contact the cruise line direct, I expect they would offer you group benefits for booking that number.

Because we didn't all book at the same time, we are apparently not eligible to any 'group benefits'. I will at least be able to get the standard 'refer a friend' for around 9 cabins (the remaining 7 'refer a friend' cabins go to a friends entitlement).

Other local businesses aren't much better. They have all become lazy and insolent and they wonder why people are switching to online rather than the face-to-face services. Not everything is about price, albeit they have to be competitive, but returning custom would help fix that.

  5. lmao, so true. There isn't a travel agent within Bathurst NSW in a bricks and mortar setup that i will deal with in the future. We sought deals for 10-15 cabins and they all treated us with contempt, as we couldn't guarantee numbers at the time. We are now a group of 36'ish. I am thinking i should find out on how to become my own agent due to the fact of their complete ineptness and knowledge/interest or lack there of.

Most of these people have never even been on a cruise, or haven't for over twenty years. I shall only be dealing with cruise specialists in the future, i will have to do the ring around in order find someone who knows what they are talking about, instead of talking out of their donkey.
