  1. Does anyone know if there is an air source for blowing up personal inflatable rafts? I would assume there's one nearby where you can rent them but not sure because they rent the floaty mats and I"m not sure they rent inflatable rings. Anyone know? Wondering if I should bring along an air pump

  2. For me, if I had more than myself in a cabin, ONE expired card would be used and I would take it with me when out of the cabin. If someone needed to go get back into the safe, they would have to get the card from me first. So far I haven't cruised with anyone whom I was away from outside of the cabin tho. So I have no suggestions for that

  3. Hmmm Froufie, I believe it does need to be corrected! I know several people were wanting to do the pay as you go route, but they were all told when they got to Mr Sancho's that day they only had the all inclusive now.

If I'm not mistaken, they have a set number of availability for each side. It was probably that was all they had left available that day. I do believe it is still both options, I will definitely be booking faaaaar in advance!

  4. A couple posts back someone said ''these are gift certificates for new bookings'' were they talking about RCCL or the Carnival cards from AARP? I've been trying to snag some from aarp, but if they're only good on new bookings I won't feel so upset when seeing ''sold out'' every time.

  5. Vista is officially his ship and he will move to the Horizon about 3 weeks before inaugural, so he will either have a shorter contract or will move midway but will most certainly go back to the vista first.

There are videos posted on facebook of guests recording chats he had while on their cruise stating that he was definitely NOT going to Horizon. I'm on Vista Dec 10 and still have not been able to find out if he will be on then or not.

  6. If your cabin category sells out, is it possible for the fare to go lower? If so, how would you learn of this since the cabin no longer shows up for mock booking checking? I found what I believe to be the same category, but not sure since the category isn't stated until a deposit is made but it is the same interior cabin type and the price is cheaper

  7. When discussing a 'name change' are you in fact changing the person on the itinerary? I have found that I can book early saver and only put myself as a named guest. I have two reservations now that way. I will wait until just before final payment is required to input the names of the travel companions, that way, I won't have to pay for person changes if things don't work out with the ones who originally were meant to accompany me.

  8. I read a suggestion to wear water shoes at Paradise beach, I'm assuming because of rocks. Is Mr Sanchos sandy? I do not wish to wear water shoes and prefer all sand. If they're both rocky or have a lot of reef, any other suggestions for pure sand beaches in Cozumel?

  9. Curious about the parking you used. Safe? How many does the shuttle hold?

I was impressed with the parking. Altho it may appear unsafe, I don't believe it was. We parked on grass but it was fenced in. The shuttles are large vans that held our group of 7 plus about 4-5 in addition. I was not as impressed with the return tho. We had one with us who severely overpacked and as such we could not rush the vans as they pulled up and the drivers loaded luggage until full and then said "no more". We waited thru 3-4 vans before our loud complaining ensured those around us heard we were going to be next. There's no organization and as we were finally being loaded up I heard a gentleman saying they had been waiting in the wrong section for an hour. The 'sections' are marked, but easily missed. All in all, if I ever sail from Jax again I will use them again. Just make sure you don't pack more than each person can handle.

  10. My 3rd Carnival cruise. Traveled with 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren in 2 oceanview cabins on Empress very close to the atrium. We had a fabulous time and I LOVED the ship! The ship is older, but the only place where I noticed it's age was the shower tiles. They're not horrible but you can tell it's aged. The carpets all looked new, the chairs all new, all the woodwork gleamed. The ship was decorated for Christmas and it made for many beautiful spots for pictures.

Parking: We drove 2 cars from north Alabama and parked at the Global Parking Mall right across the street from the terminal for $30 less than at the terminal. We were shuttled over very quickly and thru the entire boarding process within 30 minutes....although it was 3:00pm so everyone else was already onboard. One of my daughters brought far too much luggage and had to give some over to a porter, other than that, we all carried all of our luggage on. Hers was at the room just a few minutes after we made it to the room.

    The cabins:

The life jacket boxes have been replaced with a simple, easily movable table. Plenty of room for all our clothing. For some reason, only one of the two adult sail n sign cards would operate the safe. The shower water pressure and temperature were fantastic! The daughter I was rooming with was sick 3 full days and was in bed so we didn't get to know our steward at all :( The kids loved the beds, the 2 older ones in the pull downs and the 2 little ones on trundles. It was perfect.

    Activities:

We participated in the Cat in the Hat parade and sat up on the stage during the story reading part. I was BLOWN AWAY with the production of 80's & 90's Epic Rock show. Loved it! We paid the $5 for the Cat in the Hat breakfast and loved it. Only complaint there was that the characters didn't come around to each table for pictures, rather we had to leave our table to go line up by them. It was really absurd when Things 1 & 2 came out and we were in the middle of ordering, we all just left our waiter standing there, the characters didn't stay out but a few minutes. The older kids loved the slide, pool hot tubs and Camp Carnival. I really wanted a ship with the dive in movies by the pool, but sadly, Elation lacks that feature. We planned several shows or activities that we never made it to. Santa showed up on our Sea Day and it was a big hit in the atrium along with the ugly sweater contest.

    Food:

We ate in MDR for dinner twice and breakfast twice. All other times Lido buffet or the burger grill. The kids raved about the pizza but the one time I went to get some it was taking too long so I went to the deli instead. We ordered room service several times and the BLT is great. I thought all the food was good to very good. The staff were attentive and on the ball. Tables didn't stay dirty for long.

All 3 of my cruises have been on older ships-Fantasy back in 97, Holiday in 07. Elation was better than both of them in my opinion. Now, I've just booked the newest ship-Vista.

  11. We just got back from cruising on Elation out of JAX. We had two cars driving down from Alabama. I reserved 2 spots at Global Parking Mall directly across from the terminal for $30 less than the terminal charges. Getting TO the terminal was very fast, return was a little bit slower and there's no organization so those with more luggage to lug couldn't get to the vans fast enough before those with less luggage ran up and filled it...even if they'd just walked up and you had been waiting for some time. If you do use this service, and I definitely would again, make note that the pick up for The Parking Mall is the very first section you come to when exiting the terminal and heading right towards the terminal lots. I overheard one man saying he had been waiting further down in the wrong spot for an hour.

  12. Did the Elation have the American Table menus? Also do you remember the name of the other show besides Divas? Thanks!

We were on this cruise as well and I was BLOWN AWAY with the Epic Rock of the 80's & 90's show!!! I wanted to sit and watch the 2nd show right after the first. Loved it very much.

  13. Hi,

Thanks for your review. I am having a hard time discovering how many pools are onboard Valor. Deck maps show 3, but one of them is not mentioned in the descriptions of the deck plans, only shown on the images. Do you know? Also, do you know if the aft pool is considered 'adult only'? Thank you in advance if you can answer!

    Cheers

  14. Do you recall how long lunch is served? Were there long lines with 3-4 thousand folks all at the same time? Also, someone told me they do parasailing at this location but I've never seen anything stating that, did you see any?

    TIA

  15. I found an old outdated thread asking this same question but I need new info based on today. We're a group of 7 adults and 4 kids going to be docked from 12-8 at Nassau in October 2016.

RIU-most expensive but free unlimited drinks. most beautiful beach, but also possibly the most dangerous if it isn't a calm day. boring plain pool if the beach is too rough

Melia-good deal price wise with lunch but no unlimited drinks. beach appears to be just so-so with all the seaweed and 'dark' underwaters seen on googlemaps. spectacular pools if the water is yukky

British Hilton- we have many kids traveling, not sure if this would be appropriate. no cab or bus required. smallish beach. fair price but then I've seen so many say they spent extra just for a little bit of food and drinks

    Questions:

Is it absolutely not possible to get to Paradise beach on the western side of Atlantis?

Are there absolutely no public-free beaches with restroom facilities?

Just how often is the beach at RIU considered dangerous?

Thanks in Advance to anyone who can help me decide!
