  1. Hi - I searched the post and didn't find a reference to the Hotel Forum in Rome.  Has anyone stayed there - or have any experience with them?

  2. Wow!  This does take me back!  My first cruise was in 1987 on the Nordic Prince!  I was only 23 and had led a sheltered dining life.  My friend and I had Fettuccine Alfredo for the first time.  It was prepared table side and it was wonderful.  It was also the first time I'd ever had anyone take my lobster out of the shell for me!  I still have the coffee mug I bought (it's now a pen holder on the desk).

Thanks RCCL for starting me out in the cruising life!

  3. We were at the ACF (American Culinary) last year in Vegas and Norman had an exhibition during the convention and was lucky to get a box of his chocolates to bring home. OMG!!! is all I can say. Not only are they wonderful but the artistry that he puts into his chocolate leaves one breathless. Can't wait to try some other creations in a couple of weeks!!!:D

I work right down the street from his main chocolate 'salon' and let me tell you - it is certainly a temptation to drive by each day! In addition to the chocolates, they make wonderful pastries and they also do fabulous gelato as well!!

Can't wait to see what offerings they have on my upcoming trip!

  4. Two afterthoughts:

    (For future cruisers)

Midweek there is a "White Party" on pool deck (deck14), so don't forget your white casual attire.

    Also:

On the final day there is a great all inclusive beachfest at Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas. If you purchased drink coupons, bring them on the island to redeem for drinks to go along with your jerk chicken, hamburgs, hotdogs, potato salad....

Thanks so much for your review. We have 6 women going in May - and I've read the same reviews (good & bad!). We are keeping an open mind & are determined to enjoy - so I'm sure we'll have a great time.

Can I ask which drink package you purchased? And did you do that before you left - or did you get it once on board?

    Thanks!!

    -Lisa

  5. I know what you mean - but there is a lot of similarity between the markets in Switzerland and Basel - but as you said, if you see something you cannot pass up, go ahead and get it - but if you see it again later in the trip, just don't ask the price!! LOL.

Also, don't forget to BARGAIN! They would not deal in Basel but they did in France and Germany.

Keep a lookout - I will send you my travel journals to your email - and don't hesitate to ask more ???'s if you think of any!

Hey Lori - would love it if you could send me your travel blog as well - we are doing a slightly different trip this Dec but would love to read your blogs. My email is lcox104 at comcast dot net

  6. Ours are more the things we get from the places we go. We always try to find some piece of local art - you can only get so many 'free' drink glasses. I've got the photo's I've taken, plus the paintings, cards, etc. that we've picked up. I have pictures from London, Azores, Paris, San Juan, Nassau and more on my wall. Everytime I look at them it takes me to the day we picked them out.

Don't get me wrong - I also bring home every day's activity sheets as well as all receipts. We normally bring home some local currency as well - it is fun to put this all together in a scrapbook.
