  1. We had that time last week.

Thanks to a wreck on 45, we were a bit delayed & arrived at our parking destination about 12:15. After parking, unloading, shuttling over, dropping bags & getting through security, we got to the check-in desk right about 1:15. By the time we walked on the boat, we were able to go directly to our room, drop our carry-ones & head upstairs for lunch. Worked out perfectly in the end!

  2. We checked in, got our Atlantis passes & had time to kill bf Atlantis opened so we did go to the CS breakfast room. Not a lot to choose from but my kids did enjoy a make yourself waffles & fruit while we had a cup of coffee.

They knew we weren't actually checking into a room (since you walk in w/o luggage.)

Once at Atlantis we walked through the aquarium & around the grounds while waiting on slides to open (@ 10 I think). We need up moving our towels around to different areas while riding the rides. One thing I remember was how hot it was to walk (in July) & no way to avoid it as you had to leave your shoes somewhere different than where you got off the rides.

  3. We did it last summer while in port on Oasis. We didn't book through the cruise line but this is basically where and what we did: http://www.**********************saint-kitts/dolphin-royal-swim-memories.asp

The high five and kiss were pretty staged and lasted seconds but the push and dorsal pull were pretty fun. You are in groups of about 15 so your individual time with the dolphin is minimal. They take all the pictures and you have to buy them from them if you want memories of it. I learned on here to go a bit early and pre-buy the pictures if you know you want them all and it should go faster afterwards as it gets pretty crazy in the small shop with everyone trying to get to a computer and pic their prints.

It looked like the group next to us that paid more got a little bit more time with the dolphin but not too much.

    Hope that helps!

  4. We did it as well. Our cruise arrived very early (7am) and we got off as quickly as we could as there were 4 boats in port that day and took a cab over to Comfort suites. We checked in and went and had breakfast in their breakfast room as our room rate included it. We had to then go to desk (will call or something) over at Atlantis to pick up wristbands. We had a good amount of time to walk around the lobby as the desk didn't open till at least 8:30 and park opening around 9am I think.

  5. We were going to use UberXL from airport to hotel (further up the beach than Port Everglades) but ended up taking a taxi minivan. They were closer to where we exited the airport and based on the quotes I got from Uber and the cab, the cab was cheaper. $20ish to hotel.

We used UberXL the next day to get to port from hotel as there weren't any minivan cabs around. I expected the UberXL to be bigger than a small Dodge SUV. It was tight squeeze, but we fit in. $35 to port.

Upon our return, we choses a cab minivan again as they were easily accessible and we didn't have to wait. $12 to airport.

  6. We used Uber from hotel to port recently. We are a family of 5 with 5 suitcases. Requested UberXL and while it was tight, the driver got us in and was super friendly and helpful. We paid $35 bc our hotel was further up the beach and not right near the airport/port area.

Upon returning last Saturday, we chose to take a mini-van taxi to the airport bc they were there and waiting. The pickup area was quite crowded and figured it would be easier to take the cab. That was $12

  7. Not walking distance from Havensight. It is walking distance from Crown bay. Apparently no one who lives there has a clue what Krum bay is.

After our adventure of finding it I made a map from Crown bay and shared it with Tribal so they could give it to future passengers.

Thanks for the info and map - I think we are going to book with them. How long would it take to walk from Crown bay? 5-10 min?

Any specific things we should take besides the basics (towel, rash guard shirts, hats, sunscreen?)

  8. I have read a bazillion reviews on snorkel trips from St. Thomas but still can't decide what to choose. Do we choose the half-day through RCI for a reasonable price or research the few other places offering the day we are on port?

I've always read that booking through the cruise line costs a fair amount more (but does offer you some protection in the event there is a problem.) When I search for 1/2 day catamarans to St. John's, the majority are not operating on the day we are in port (7-12-16) which leads me to believe they have been hired by one of the 3 ships in port that day. True?

Out of curiosity, will there be excursion operators waiting to get our business when we get off the ship like in Mexico?

Anyway, options are champagne 1/2 day snorkel (catamaran) through RCI, through Tribal (if available) or VICat. Would love one that goes to St. John - 1-2 stops in the area. A stop at a place that has food hut for starving teen to get a burger since cheese, crackers and a veggie tray won't go far with him.

    Trip includes me, DH, DS(15), DD(12) & DS(8)

    Thanks!

  9. I just called yesterday for our July cruise, the discount was great. They charged for the encounter and upgraded us to the swim. Helped a lot with the cost!

Who did you call to get the discount? Dolphin Discovery? We are headed there in a week & a half and plan on doing the dolphin swim. Was it great when you went last July? Thanks!
