  1. On Millenium the only shade was inside the seating pods. Even the slatted roof gave no shade as it was open between slats and just decorative. It was very quiet up there for obvious reasons last spring in the Far East. The space itself was great and the light lunches were great. It did involve long sleeves and hats though so we didn’t really linger longer.

  2. On both of our last 2 cruises on M class, Royal and penthouse suites, I have asked for and received the mdr and the blue menu each evening along with the luminae one. For that reason we never saw a need to take up space in blu. I have to add that it was only an odd item that I chose from the menu as I have now got to know what the dishes actually are in luminae( difficult to tell at first from the descriptions). The staff are always very helpful in luminae as well to adjust the dishes for picky eaters like me!!!

I wouldn’t mind eating in Blu once to experience the restaurant but don’t need to go regularly for the menu. Possibly guests may go there on m class ships due to the lack of speciality restaurants on that class. We do miss Murano!

  3. We’ve asked for a kettle on cruises in Alaska, the Baltic and Asia, varying ships, and always been given one. You may want to take your own teabags though as Celebrity don’t always have decent ones. Sometimes though have had twinnings or Typhoo so no way of telling what they have on board. It’s the only way of having tea made with boiling water instead of hot water!!!

  4. We were on Millie shortly after the changes. Apart from the tiny chairs the lounge was a welcoming place. The suite manager and concierges were present and helpful, seated at a table or circulating, afternoon tea was served by 2 butlers and the small bar area was staffed most of the time. My sister enjoyed her champagne there and they even managed Perrier jouet for her when requested. Next time we are on Infinity before it goes into dry dock as have to admit we weren’t as keen on the changes in the suite or the shadeless retreat deck. Itinerary suited so we booked whilst on board.

We were looking at a late 2020 cruise on Summit (sister ship already refurbished) and in Royal Suite specialty restaurants were not included. Only included in Penthouse.

We were recently in a Royal on the already refurbished Millenium and speciality restaurants were still included, therefore it is not connected with refurbishment. Hope they are not changing this as we have another Royal booked for 2020.

  6. Our only substandard Butler was on an Alaska cruise on Solstice in a Royal Suite. Good have been in Sky and Celebrity suites and excellent have been in Sky, Royal and Penthouse suites. It really is the luck of the draw and all but the bad almost invisible one have been fine and added to the cruise experience.

  7. Wow! The photos of the vegan food are excellent. My vegan niece travelled with us on Solstice 3 years ago and Luminae food was lacking to say the least despite numerous requests. Salad, veg and fruit. She appealed to see if they could add a few nuts!! Murano said they couldn’t really accommodate her so we had to cancel the booking a day before we were due to eat there. She is due to sail with us again next July on Infinity so I guess we just ask to speak to the chef on Day 1 and maybe mention it in advance when the Shoreside concierge gets in touch with us. Hopefully 3 years has made a difference in the attitude to vegans!

  8. Asked for Newspaper and Sudoku on Millenium last month. We were told they had stopped printing them to save paper and the planet unless by request. We were disappointed as always enjoyed these. He did print them off for us that day maybe because I passed the comment ‘ thank goodness we won’t be getting all those silly adverts in the suite then for the same reason’ 😉😉

  9. They are listening. We were in a Royal on Millie 2 weeks ago and pointed out there were no lights by the vanity mirror and no table on the balcony. Both have been corrected looking at the photos. We didn’t have any sockets at all in the bathroom, not sure if that is corrected. Our shelf in the shower for shower gel etc was at an angle of 45 degrees but it was there. Sure they will work on that one!! Think it’s teething problems and they will correct obvious things. We have booked on Infinity before its refit for our next cruise😉😉

Question.... Is the sofa next to the connecting door also a pull out bed?  We are in 6137 which is also a connecting Royal on the 03/30 cruise and our Grand Daughter will be with us

Just off Millennium in a Royal and yes the sofa converts to a very comfortable bed. Guess they are new so it was much more comfortable than the one in the Penthouse last year.

There was no shade up on the retreat deck on Millie but after lots of comments I think they were planning to put some shade over the tables up there.

They seem to be listening as they have added lights to the vanity unit in the Royal bedroom. These were non existent on Millie and we mentioned that to them only 10 days ago.

  11. I for one have had skin cancer on my scalp. Just off Millennium and found the Retreat sundeck a real problem. No shade at all over the tables and very few ‘pods’ or covered beds. Ate lunch up there once with hat, scarf around neck and factor 50 but only stayed a very short time. Sat in a pod one day as well and thoroughly enjoyed that  but basically the area was almost out of bounds. Lots of people mentioned the lack of shade and I think they are rethinking for later refurbs at least over the table area

  12. Just off the Millennium last Saturday. The power was off on our last night whilst we were docked in Hong Kong. Back on Saturday morning but the TV was still down until we disembarked. Hope they manage to sort it for the rest of your cruise.

  13. Just off Millennium in a Royal Suite. Yes we thought there were design faults in the suite although we thought the overall look was good. I think they are listening to comments. Retreat concierge manager and a member of the design team came to talk to us one evening. Pointed out no socket in the bathroom, no lighting around the vanity unit, only a low coffee table on balcony so couldn’t eat out there and various other small issues. We weren’t fans of the bench seat by the dining table as there is a picture right behind it etc but that’s personal taste. Our biggest moan is the lack of shade up on the retreat deck which does have to the benefit of making it very quiet up there certainly at the table area but rather defeats the reason for the area. Think a lot of these issues will be sorted on the next ships and hope it is in time for the Summit for those if you booked on her. By chance our next booking is on Infinity before the refit😃😃

  14. I have always kept my iPad in the safe both on board and in hotels. Never had a problem with safe electronics due to it being there. We are due to board Millie on March 2nd with 3 of us in a Royal suite so hoping we can fit things into the new safe. May have to limit it to passports, money and jewellery.

  15. We were also extremely lucky 4 years ago on our DIY Santorini day. We were on the first tender and straight up to Fira with no queue. We hopped in a taxi there to Oia and when we arrived there there was only a handful of people around. I think we would all agree it is beautiful when quiet. We did see the first excursion buses then arrive after a while. Caught the bus back to Fira once the crowds started to gather in Oia and wandered around and had lunch before returning to the ship.

It can work either way depending on that tender from the ship. Beautiful island and great whichever way you chose to explore.

  16. I would agree that it is not a general decline but very much depends on the chef on board at the time. We have only eaten in Luminae on Silhouette, Solstice and Constellation but the middle sailing on Solstice was no where near as good as the other 2. By coincidence my vegan niece was with us on the Solstice sailing as well and the vegan offerings were very poor. Last September on Connie we were delighted that Luminae was equally as good as our first sailing a couple of years ago.
