Thanks for your review and pictures. We are sailing on The Elation in December and can't wait.

Does anyone have recommendations for Stay and Sail package hotels in Jacksonville? Cruising in December and need to reserve.

We're going on the same cruise and still trying to figure out what we want to do in Freeport. We would love to see any info that you have about the beach trip.
Also, here's a link to the roll call page -

Grabbing some tail on the Fascination :D

You'll probably have better luck finding a good answer in this thread-

Good luck on your search, I hope you find some good ones!

I am loving your review. We are sailing on the Victory in a couple of weeks and I can't wait to get onboard and start drinking those fruity drinks!

Sailing on the Victory in May and can't wait to read your review.

I'm loving your review and pictures. We are sailing on the Victory for the first time next month. Seeing your pictures sure adds to the excitement!

We sailed on her in February in a porthole cabin and would definitely do it again. No complaints at all. Enjoy your trip!

For our upcoming cruise on the Victory next month we were thinking about doing something fun, different, silly, etc for our embarkation photo. I remember seeing a bunch of pictures like that on a thread here last year, but I have searched and searched and I just can't find it.
So... I guess I'll just throw it out there. Who's got pictures they would like to share or even ideas for the picture? We're looking forward to having FUN and we want to start it out right!

In 42 days we will be boarding the Victory in Miami :-)

The OP is probably referring to the upstairs seating area for the Lido buffet. It's not as crowded as the area downstairs and many people don't know it exists.
On (some? all?) Conquest-class ships this is where the Fish'n'Chips is located. It took us two days on Liberty before we finally noticed the Fish'n'Chips there. :)
Thanks for the reply. This is our first time on this class of ship, so we're looking forward to exploring it as much as we can!

Thanks for posting! We're going to be sailing on the Victory in May and are looking forward to it. I am curious though, what is the "secret spot" in the upper level of the Mediterranean restaurant area.

We live close to Charleston, but have yet to sail on the Fantasy. I'm enjoying the review so far and looking forward to the rest!
Oh I'll have to go back and check out your Splendor review also since we have an aft wrap balcony booked for next December on another ship :)

We were just on the Ecstasy and I ordered a bucket of beer while we were on the Lido deck and received the discount. It never occured to me to ask them not to open them. The server brought them to me and opened one beer and the rest were never opened.
Shortly afterward, I took them back to the cabin and we went to get something to eat. When we got back to the cabin, the steward had refilled the bucket with ice. If you're a beer drinker, I'd say this is definitely the way to order them.

We will be in our first porthole cabin this Friday on the Ecstasy. We can't wait!

Thanks for the suggestions. Sounds like you had a good time. We don't have a set agenda, so we'll probably just see where the day leads us. We might just end up going to one of the resorts to hang out for awhile and check things out.

You shouldn't have a problem with crime during the daytime in the tourist areas. Most issues problems occur either in the evenings, or to those who venture out of the area and off the beaten path.
The Hilton is a quick 5 minute walk along the bustling wharf, and is secure within its grounds as are other hotels with day passes.
Don't miss out on a great day on this beautiful island because of these warnings. Just stay in the main areas and with others visitors and you'll be fine.
We were in Nassau a few months ago and we absolutely loved it! We're going to be there next weekend and our ship will be in port overnight. Any suggestions for nightime activities that won't be too risky? The only negative to our first trip was the rude staff at Senor Frogs, so we likely won't be going there. If you have recommendations for any other places, I would greatly appreciate it.

No, not necessarily are deposit amounts determined by cruise length....during a sale, they sometimes offer 1/2 price deposit, when rebooked and not during the sale, the reduced deposit is not offered any longer....so the length of cruise does not always set the amount. Sales perks can affect deposit amounts as well.
However, OP, when you rebooked, you would have thought that the rep would have known that you owed more for the deposit and asked for it then, saving the cancellation! That was totally the fault of the rep than handled the cabin change, shame on CCL for cancelling you and not calling or emailing to correct their rep's error![/quote]
My point exactly. Overall I'm still happy to choose Carnival, but this is something that they should work to correct so that it doesn't happen again in the future.

When you originally booked the cruise, did you pay the full deposit or was it a 50% reduced deposit? If it was the reduced deposit, that was your problem. According to other posters, when you make changes they expect the rest of the deposit or they'll canel your booking. Unfortunately, some at CCL don't tell you that.
By the way, did you get your FTTF back?
Yes it was originally a reduced deposit as part of a sale. We haven't re-purchased the FTTF yet, but there are still plenty available so that shouldn't be a problem as long as we don't wait too long. We didn't get it back automatically because the refund was already in process.

Just a word of caution based on an experience that we had today. We had originally booked an OV cabin for our upcoming cruise. We then decided that we would change it to porthole cabin for a cheaper price. I called the 800 number and got it changed and saved $120 on our booking. We were happy and the change was easy to make over the phone. Everything was great :D
Until today... we got a notice that our FTTF money was being refunded due to a cancellation of our booking. I called Carnival and they looked it up and said that the booking was cancelled because we had not paid our deposit in full on time. I explained that I paid the deposit in full when I made the original booking online.
Well apparently, because of the fact that there was a new rate in effect when we changed to a porthole room, the required deposit amount had changed. I explained to the lady at Carnival that we weren't told of this when we made the change or we would have taken care of it at the time. I asked her to either fix it or put me in touch with someone who could.
Luckily she was able to help and we are now booked again in the same cabin for the cheaper rate. We had to pay an additional $100 to complete the deposit, but that is better than losing our booking altogether.
I'm glad that it has been corrected and I was happy with the customer service rep who helped me get it straight; however it would have been nice if they had contacted us prior to the cancellation so that all of this would have been avoided.

I am considering seriously that May 6th trip and so is willow! Just waiting to get my tax return and then will book it. Come with us!
After seeing all this fun and realizing that y'all are a lot like us, we are seriously considering it now too. Can we really swing THREE cruises in one year??:D I guess we might just have to find out. We'll keep you posted!

This review is SO MUCH FUN!! We sailed to Nassau and LSC on the Fascination a few weeks before you did and we loved it. We have some friends who are going to be on the May 6th sailing of the Fantasy. We already have two cruises booked for next year, so we opted out of going with them. But after seeing how much fun you and your group had together, we're starting to think maybe she should try to go on that one too.

Sounds like this is going to be a fun ride!
Sunshine is back in Charleston!!!
