  1. If you want to lunch in the Golden Lion get there early… it fills up fast.

Also, if you don't want a full breakfast in the main DR it's nice to have coffee and a pastry in Sir Samuels. Sir Samuels is also a nice place to have a glass of wine in the afternoon.

It's fun to ride the glass elevators that run between Decks 7 and 11. The elevator on the port side opens directly in to the Commodore Club on 9.

And don't forget to check out the Library.

  2. we disembarked about a year ago from Deck 11 which gave us a little priority.

However, even with a bit of a head start there were only a few taxis and a huge line. A nice porter helped us grab a car service… which is what I would arrange if I do another trip.

  3. I was on the QM2 two years ago at about the same time as you are scheduled.

Weather on board was perfect for 23 days. Across the Atlantic… up the Chanel to the North Sea… up to Oslo… back to Hamburg.. down the Chanel… across the Atlantic… smooth as glass the whole time. On the other hand, we were on the QE2 in the late 80's in Sept. and couldn't go out on deck after NYC. Rotten weather. You just can't predict.

Also, I've lived in NYC for 50 years… and it's the same thing. Sept can be beautiful or hot as hades. Hope you get the beautiful!

  4. Salacia.. I've noticed others, like you, have recommended those decks. Is the reasoning that it will be more stable? Just curious, I've been on the ship 3 times… on decks 9, 11 and 12…. and have never had any problems. (But

    then I'm a Viking by heritage -:)

  5. If you decide to go for it and don't mind paying a premium… try for a Britannia

Club booking. Cabins are on the 12th deck…. near the swimming pool. Club

passage also has its own restaurant (within the main Britannia restaurant) where you can dine at your leisure… no first or last seating.
