Well, we are all different creatures, aren’t we. I love grocery shopping. One of my favorite things to do while traveling is visiting a grocery store.

This is part of the reason we always book Airbnb's with kitchens when traveling internationally.  A reusable grocery bag is always packed.

We've done Bermuda and Canada out of NYC (it's our home port) before and I honestly don't love Bermuda enough to try it in the early fall. It can't be downright cold in Bermuda the end of September/October. Idk. If choosing between Bermuda and Canada/NE in the fall, I think I'm going north for the foliage. I'm not committing to anything yet since itineraries aren't even out yet, but I'm definitely interested in sailing VV from NYC because it's so much easier to make a trip work when you aren't adding travel days on to both ends.

We just canceled our Bermuda trip for this fall and opted for Europe instead (neither of us was excited to go to Bermuda).  Glad to hear we didn't make a mistake by canceling.

  3. Ended up driving past a neighborhood that got hit yesterday. Lots of cars from the neighborhood parked on the major street so debris could be removed. This looked like a lot of new construction that was damaged. 20240427_134539.thumb.jpg.a3f31d7a2f3e2949a8528d88113341b8.jpg

  4. Been an active 24 hours of weather here.  At least five tornado tracks, with two of them being on the ground for 30-40 miles each.  The closest touchdown that I'm aware of due to the destruction it caused was 6 miles from our house.

Right now I'm just hoping to get it for less than $600, which seems absurd when you're talking about a less than two hour flight... I've even looked into to flying in the same day, which I don't want to do, as it deletes my entire afternoon and evening in Miami...

You can fly into Fort Lauderdale for $368 roundtrip on Delta, non-stop both ways.

  6. UPS tried to deliver my package an hour before their listed window, so I missed it.  Unfortunately, it requires an adult signature, and now I have to work from home all day Monday since I cannot trust the window they give.

I was hoping to luck out with a good price for my Miami flights this morning, but it was not to be... I'm holding out for something better unless I end up absolutely having to pay these absurd prices. For this amount, I would almost drive down there. (***Not really...)

If you are willing to go into Miami and out of FLL, you can get nonstop on Delta for $476.

Car problems are the worst!!  I had to change the battery on my Ford Escape--what a chore!  I had to go to YouTube to figure out how to do!  I had to remove the windshield wipers, plus a flap, plus a bunch of other stuff and then angle out the battery!!  I'm going to check out where the battery is when I buy my next new car!

I've done this recently with my Escape.  They could have put the battery in a better location so removing the cowl wouldn't be the easier of the two options.  We had to get a special tool because the wiper arms were stuck.

  10. Been on a scouting mission this weekend to find the best places to get the ingredients to make a big batch of bolognese next weekend.  We figured if this sauce takes 5.5 hours to cook, we should use the best ingredients we can get.  Short ribs, pork belly, red wine, etc.  It should make about 13 servings worth, one to eat and 12 to freeze.

Pork belly led us to the Asian Grocery store, which is always fun to visit and we find so many different things to try.  I have a slight obsession with ramens and have four different varieties right now.

  11. Adding to the Santorini discussion.  It's a one-and-done for us unless we travel there via airplane.  Waited in the sun for over 2 hours to get down on the cable cars.  We had an excursion that took us to a winery and Oia first, so that part was easy, but getting down was horrible.

It looks like TxTeach will be in a similar situation since there are four ships in port leaving around the same time frame.

I love a good weiss - never saw this flavor, looks delicious!...Is it good?

Ok just did a search at my liquor store.  Found this - only in stock at one store about a half hour away - ordered some for pick up.😊

That is what I was drinking on tap. Smells like strawberry jam and has a slight tartness. It is seasonal and is only at one place around here so we stopped for me to get a pint since I didn't want to go to the store that had a few still in stock.

Wait... You're supposed to soak it first? Apparently I didn't read the directions at all. I cut open the bag, dumped it in the Crock Pot, and sprinkled the packet of spices on top...

No, you didn't need to soak it first, just add water to the crock pot and cook.  He was smoking his, which is why he desalted.
