myc6toy, sorry to take your own thread off topic, :D but how did you enjoy the Monaco Grand Prix? I was wondering how you were getting on when I was sitting at home watching it live and the cameras kept giving us a shot of Spirit anchored there in the bay. It didn't make jealous, I swear :( I keep telling my husband that we must do it again but he's just not interested....
Anyway I hope you had a great time, presume you liked the Spirit as you're thinking of another cruise.
Ravenscroft .. The Monaco GP was great ! Typical Monaco race but seeing it live was a once in a lifetime experience. And sailing with Silver Sea made it even better. I have posted a review of our trip, so please check it out.
The DW is addicted :D ! We have book another cruise for this Dec and she is even looking at one in the spring

If she's under 17, leave her home.....
No she is 24 going on 30 :)

We are contemplating bringing our daughter with us on our Dec Spirit cruise, but she is a litttle hesitant on sleeping on the pull out couch.
Are they very comfortable ? (I have yet to sleep on one that is.)
Thanks for any insight.

We made all our dining and spa reservations online for our May cruise on the Spirit, and when we boarded we were given a list of them, and they were all as reserved. Boarding staff mentioned that the system was working. Also received a list from our butler, and daily confirmations in our mail slot. So for us it worked well.
Hopefully it will work yhe same for our next cruise

Finally got time to do my review of the cruise in the Review area.
We had a fabulous time ! Meet some great people and all the staff were awesome !
We definitely had a 6 star Silversea experience, and have booked another cruise for this December !

Thanks for all the comments and information.
The DW has made her decision, and chose to travel on the Spirit again for voyage 5436A.
Looking forward to our second SS cruise !

Emtbsam – There was nothing that we didn’t like on the Spirit. We were really pampered by all the staff and enjoyed lounging around. We enjoyed Stars and la champagne and all the dining venues. We also took part in trivia and bingo when we were able. Just considering trying one of the smaller boats, but the DW is concerned in might be too small. When it comes to the ports, we just wander around on our own if its safe to do so.
Dusababy – thanks for your insight, all opinions are to be listened to.
I will shortly be posting our review of our Spirit trip so stay tuned J

We are looking at taking either voyage 5436A (Spirit) or 1436 (Cloud) for a early Dec carribean cruise.
We were on the Spirit this past May and very much enjoyed her, but are considering the smaller Cloud.
Any insight on some of the negitive Cloud reviews would be appriciated.
The ports a vastly different but we are not to picky.

I want to thank everyone on here as we are boarding the Spirit here in Barcelona tomorrow.
I have been mostly lurking on here for the past year anticipating our first cruise and hopefully have learned a few things etc
I may not be posting on board as I'm too cheap to pay for internet:D, but will post a review when we return

Our Silver Box arrived 4 weeks before our cruise, and came via our TA.

We board May 27, Rome - Rome.
You are getting on as we disembark. We will try and leave the ship in good shape for you.:)
Enjoy your cruise

I think we are going to take Amtrak down. This is my husbands 50th birthday present and he won't know until I give it to him tomorrow. Amtrak and driving is about the same time for us. So I know I need to find a hotel for the first night in New Orleans. How do I find out what excursions are offered?
What a great 50th present!
My wife is taking me on a Med cruise for my 50th in three weeks.
She couldn't keep it a secret though. :)

Many thanks for taking us all along with you on your voyage !!

Going back over numerous posts over things to pack .. Duct Tape etc
-
Packed once .. now repacking with only 1/2 the stuff :)

To those who worry about restaurant reservations: Don't. We only reserved one Champagne and one Terrazza on line, and we needn't have. Those on line reservations on "My Voyage" had been picked up without a hitch. And there were no problems making others onboard. You really don't need to run madly to make reservations the instant you board.
Thats encouraging news .. Thanks !

We received our "Silver Box" today from our TA.
To quote the Pointer Sisters : " I'm so excited .. and I just can't hide it !! " :D
Our first SS Cruise, Silver Spirit 5414 Barcelona to Rome with stops for the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Formula 1 Race
I'm so excited .. and I just can't hide it !!

Thanks Jeff ...
We are really looking forward to our first cruise.
I am very surprised that no one on this board is on the same cruise .. I put a Mix & Mingle for it up a long time ago, being that it's taking in both the Cannes Film festival and the Monac Grand Prix

First of all let me say that we were new to Silversea. We have been on several other lines, Holland American, Regent, Carnival and SeaDream. We boarded in San Juan with little to no trouble. Check in was easy. Our luggage arrived in very short order.
Then our issues started. Most of the restaurant reservations that I had made on line were not correct on board. One was completely left out and on another night we had 2 for the same night. The person we had confirming them on board could not have cared less. Nothing he could do he said. We were to hear that same refrain more than once on this cruise. So he cancelled the duplicate reservation and waitlisted us for the one that had simply disappeared and the one we had to cancel. We did not get to go to either of those restaurants.
The third issue came up when we got back to our room and found our spa appointments had been changed from the day at sea to a day earlier. And of course, the day at sea was now fully booked. Again, we had made these on line for exactly that reason. We were ok with the rescheduled services but while we were talking to the spa lady about it, we found out that 2 other spa services had been scheduled for us for the day at sea. Services we never ordered. By this time, we had had enough of their online system. However, I suppose we should be grateful that the day at sea was a popular spa day, otherwise we might have had to pay for the new, unmade appointments!!!
The ship is beautiful. We loved the different venues, bars, public spaces. Our service was always top notch other than the online issues. The bar service in Panorama could be a little slow but that would be the only thing we would complain about. The staff is very nice and friendly.
Stars was a little silly in our opinion on the food side, not much to it really. Certainly not worth a surcharge. We thought the food was very good everywhere else. Food service as also great.
Entertainment was also very good.
We enjoyed our cruise. We might be back.
Hi Ricksherry,
Thanks for the review, we are boarding the Spirit in just under 4 weeks and have used the My Silversea to make all our spa and resturant bookings. We will have to head stright to the MD and spa to confirm them when we get aboard instead of taking a casual wander around.
Spirit's "Radio/Alarm with iPod Docking Station" ??

Hi Jen,
We were on the Spirit in May, and used the docking station.
It has the 30 pin connector and will charge your iPhone. iPads do not fit in it, unless you bring an adapter/extension cord.
It is nice to have some of your own music to listen to.
