  1. I will be going on my first Marella cruise (on the Discovery), in a few weeks, though I have been on many cruises with other companies in the past.  I have been on this ship when it was Royal Caribbean's Splendour of the Seas, so it will be interesting to see the difference.

However, I cannot see any way to pre-book the speciality restaurants in advance, as you can with most other companies.

Am I missing something, or is this function not available with Marella ?

    Thanks

I had this trouble some time ago and this is how I resolved it - log on to pocruises.com/myaccount - you will find the space to enter your account number (URN) under 'my details'  towards the bottom of the page.  Your account number (URN) is your Peninsular Club number - mine starts POFA****D but when entering it I have to omit the PO and just enter FA then the 5 numbers and D.

    All works perfectly now!

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info, but as this is my first cruise with P&O, I am not yet a member of the Peninsular club.  Apparently you have to spend 15 nights on board before you become a member, you can't join prior to your first cruise like other cruise lines.

Is there any other way of finding my URN ?

    Thanks

  3. I have cruised many times with other cruise lines, and have recently booked my first cruise with P&O.

After registering for a Cruise personaliser account, and entering the reference number, my booking details are shown.

However,  After registering for an account on the P&O website (with the same email address), when looking at upcoming cruises, it just says:  "We are unable to show you any cruise information at this time..This might be because you have not yet entered a valid URN (unique reference number)"   It does not seem to have linked the two systems together and I cannot find anywhere to enter the URN.

Does anyone have any ideas ?

    Thanks

  4. This is really sad news. Luckily, I am one of the last voyages to have it before it changes over.

I think people just do not normally like change and found this whole process difficult. No one was too keen on making reservations 3 months in advance, which as many people have stated, is very easy to change once on board the ship. Oh well, RCCL tried and barely had a chance to make it work:(

We were on one of he first sailings of the Ovation this year and enjoyed the DD. It had some issues, but was generally fine.

We are also on the Anthem in October and it's a little disappointing that it will be one of the last voyages with this style of dining.

  5. We have been on a few RC cruises (and one on NCL) which we really enjoyed.

We are looking at a Celebrity Cruise on the Eclipse and as this thread is a couple if years old, I was wondering if people had more recent comparisons.

We are pretty relaxed when on cruises and have not had dinner in the MDR once on previous cruises, preferring the speciality and other restaurants. We don't do formal ☺

We also enjoyed the live bands in various locations on RC ships.

Earlier comments have mentioned that Celebrity is more 'stuffy' and 'sedate' than RC and that the ship is asleep by 11.pm.

Just wondering if things have changed over the last couple of years, any information would be appreciated.

    Cheers

  6. Her maiden voyage was April 14 2016 - inaugural cruise, 3-night to Holland from Southampton.

I'll get back to you with the Captain.

Just got back from the Ovation, and can confirm that Captain Henrik Loy is the current captain on a 10-week rotation. He will be on board until the ship reaches Dubai.

  7. Hi

I am sailing on the Anthem from New York in a few months, and after returning to port we have a flight to the UK at around 8pm.

I’m not a big fan of waiting in the airport for 10 hours, or hauling our luggage around, so I was hoping to arrange for our luggage to be couriered to the airport while we have a stroll around.

I have found a few luggage couriers, but they will only transport to my home address and not the airport.

Has anyone used such a service in New York that they can recommend ?

    Thanks

  8. I saw this in November and it was excellent. But if you don't like the idea of participating, or being showered in bath water, the best seats are on the balcony. Several guests were shown to the premium seats on the ground floor but later opted to move up to the balcony for a better view.

I also went later in the week so it was far from full and there wasn't much need to queue a long time in advance (or any need really).

    Hope you enjoy it.

We have paid for premium seating, are there any of this class of seat on the balconies ?

  9. Ok, I have just booked Premium seating for this show, just a couple more questions:

    1. I believe that this show used to provide a set menu, as mentioned in the review below:

"The dinner portion of the evening follows a set menu. It begins with an appetizer of prosciutto and melon. For the main course, there is a surf and turf combination of jumbo shrimp and roasted beef tenderloin with potato and vegetables. (There is also a vegetarian option not listed on the menu). Finally, there is a “Trilogy of Sweets” consisting of a flourless chocolate cake, a red velvet cupcake and vanilla bean caramel with berries."

Just wondering if this is still the case, or have they changed things since then ?

    2. We have booked premium seating , but as there are no pre-assigned seats, are you shown to your seat when you arrive or is it a case of pick your own ? Are there sections of the premium seating area which are better or worse than the others ?

    Cheers

  10. Hi

We are sailing on the Epic in January. It will be our first time with NCL, having sailed with RCI a few times before.

I have seen a few references to the booking of entertainment.

I realise that bookings will be required for shows like the Cirque Dreams & Dinner, but are there any others that require pre-booking ?

Do you also need to book for the general shows in the Theatre, and if so, do you get a choice of seats, or are you assigned seat numbers etc ?

    Thanks

  11. Hi

We are due to sail on the Epic in January, the first time on with NCL.

Are you able to pre-book the speciality dining restaurants on an individual basis, as I only seem to get the option of buying a dining package with 3 or more meals ?

    Cheers
