pamwinn Posted October 11, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2005 Froggy, Were you able to get that cabin for a price similar to the AD's or did you have to pay a lot more? I want it bad.
Fairsailing Posted October 11, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 11, 2005 We were in that cabin in June for Alaska. Fantastic balcony that provides a panoramic view but is also somewhat protected from the elements. The only negatives were no head room in the shower (I'm 6 ft.) and the bass from Club Fusion below was clearly audible until about 12:30 am. Definitely a great cabin if you don't mind a little noise at night. Can you believe we were a guarantee and wound up with it?
wrkfire911 Posted October 13, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2005 just wanted to let you know...Scampi is out of town for a couple days...I know that because she is on our roll call board for a coming up cruise...I will drop her a note otherwise, I'm sure she would have responded to you promptly!! hope you enjoy your cruise
Once Upon A Time Posted October 13, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 13, 2005 We've also booked E728 for the May 20th Sapphire to Alaska... Did have to pay a premium for it, but just got off the Sapphire to Mexico where we were in E732. Had an opportunity to see this cabin and loved the balcony. We didn't hear any noise from Club Fusion at all, so I'd also be interested in hearing from someone who's sailed in this cabin. Thanks
Sonchyne4U Posted October 14, 2005 #6 Share Posted October 14, 2005 Once Upon A Time - We are doing the Mex. Riv. on Sapphire on 10/29 and have cabin E732. Did you like the cabin? Tell me all about it. I'm getting really excited. Teresa
Once Upon A Time Posted October 14, 2005 #7 Share Posted October 14, 2005 Yes, we loved it!!! The wake is just great when you're traveling and it's got a great view. Also, the balcony is about twice the size of other balcony cabins and enclosed on 3 sides. We actually had the Ultimate Balcony Dinner out there for 3 couples (they just added a couple more tables and 4 more chairs...no problem. Cabin Steward, Luis, was just great .. He has family in Mazatlan, so is always in a hurry to finish that day, so he can go visit them. The bed is pretty hard, so I'd order the egg crate foam mattress topper right away. The cabin is very private.. no noise from upstairs or down. Lots of hangers.... don't know what else to tell you... Have a great time! It's a great cabin! Sonchyne4U Posted October 14, 2005 #8 Share Posted October 14, 2005 Once Upon A Time - Thanks for the info. Now I'm really excited. One other thing: how much is it to do the Ultimate Balcony Dinner? Is it a per person charge? How do you go about booking this? Was it worth it? I know I am just full of questions. Thanks. Teresa
Once Upon A Time Posted October 14, 2005 #9 Share Posted October 14, 2005 The UB Dinner is $100.00 per couple and is wonderful. You just call the Director of Room Service (That's Alesando on the Sapphire) and he will set up everything, time, menu, coctail choices, etc. It sounds a little pricy, but you get flowers, cocktails, portraits and a great meal too! That balcony is perfect for this special treat....
kruzmeister Posted October 20, 2005 #10 Share Posted October 20, 2005 Hi Fairsailing (and others) We just booked E728 on the Sapphire for the 1/7/2006 Mex Riviera cruise. This late in the game we couldn't believe it appeared on-line. Got a great deal in the AE mini-suite category--and protected it from an upgrade. Now I'm a little concerned. We called princess and they said it had a regular bathtub/shower. My husband is 6'2''. Does the ceiling above slant or something so that DH will be hitting his head? Thanks for any input! pamwinn Posted October 20, 2005 #11 Share Posted October 20, 2005 In all the minisuites, you step up and over into the tub. It is a couple of inches higher than the showers in the other cabins are. I think he will be okay at 6'2", but he won't be able to wear a hat in the shower.:D
kruzmeister Posted October 20, 2005 #12 Share Posted October 20, 2005 Very funny Pamwinn! Can he wear his White Sox Cap (yes we are long suffering south side Chicago fans--now in the suburbs). The last time they won the pennant I was a newborn! Seriously, thanks for the input. We're looking forward to our second Princess cruise. We had a Dolphin Mini-Suite last time, and are looking forward to a covered balcony (and twice the size to boot!) I always start fretting once I "push the button" to buy our cruise on-line. So, of course I'm freaking about the smallest things. It's all about the adventure--even if he hits his head in the shower! Golden Princess, 1/2004 Westerdam, 1/2005 Sapphire Princess, 1/2006
alexspepaw Posted October 20, 2005 #13 Share Posted October 20, 2005 Once Upon a Time - thanks for the info on the Sapphire - I have a different question since you just returned - does the casino have a poker room? I'm talking about Texas hold-em like you see on TV all the time...Ocean Players Club is saying on their website that the Sapphire has added live poker - but I cannot get a confirmation from anyone who has recently sailed. Thanks!

Once Upon A Time Posted October 20, 2005 #15 Share Posted October 20, 2005 I didn't notice a poker room, just the normal blackjack tables. Truthfully, I didn't spend too much time in the casino... just too much smoke everywhere. Too bad they don't have a small non-smoking area for those of us that just can't handle that much smoke. Talking about E728 and the shower... I'm now a little concerned...my husband is 6'6" and he deals with the normal showers, but I'm wondering.... just how high is the ceiling in that shower?
