resturant reservations

Quick question as to some strategy. Thank you in advance for your response.

We are going on our 1st SS cruise in October, Riveria Visions, and I am not sure what the best way to handle the alternative resturant reservations. Is this something we need to do immediately upon embark? Pick out or nights for Champ. and Ter.?

While on Princess, if you did not book your alt. rest. first day, you were not going to get in all week. Wondering if SS is the same way or you can just play it by ear each day on where you want to eat.

I have just returned from the Shadow.You must book with the specific restaurant as soon as you embark.We ate in La Terrazza on two occasions and in Le Champagne once.

We enjoyed La Terrazza but we did not like Le Champage too much and found some problems with the food and the way that it arrived in the Restaurant
