Just for the heck of it I asked CCL if they might follow suit.

Management is constantly reviewing our onboard smoking policy, as we do want to ensure the safety and comfort of our valued guests. We are unable to give you the guarantee you are looking for in regard to smoking on the balconies. However, we do have some excellent news. Our newest ships, the CARNIVAL SPLENDOR, the CARNIVAL DREAM, the CARNIVAL MAGIC and the CARNIVAL BREEZE offer the Cloud 9 Spa staterooms. These staterooms are solely non-smoking staterooms and offer spa access and amenities. I am sure that this option would be something right up your alley.

Thanks again for choosing Carnival. We can’t wait to welcome you back on board.
