footfixer214 Posted May 4, 2018 #52 Share Posted May 4, 2018 We arrive in Papeete at 5:30AM May 28. We are not taking the Oceania shuttle and would like to know taxi availablility and cost of the ride from airport to cruise port. Also, there will be a lot of time from arrival to embarkation. How can we fill the void?

Even after taking a long time waiting st customs and stopping at the airport ATM there were still plenty of taxis. IIRC we were on a meter (versus flat rate) and with a generous tip (not really customary in Polynesia) it was approximately US$30 (we used local currency) total. Way less than Oceania’s exorbitant transfer cost and much faster than waiting for a bus to fill. However if you have all day I’d consider renting a car and driving around the island especially if you are allowed to then drop it downtown. I have driven in Tahiti before with no troubles.
