Just got back from the cruise on the Lirica 11/15 - 26th, 11 nights. Here's some quick random opinions on the cruise.

Very clean ship.

  • Embarktation a breeze.
  • Cabins and showers smallest of any ship.
  • Casino slots very old, no new machines.
  • Casino at sea days does not open until 4.
  • No ATM on board, ships bank was not open last 2 days to cash a check.
  • Nightly shows in the theater for the most part were very good.
  • Lounge entertainment was for the Lawrence Welk set, very mellow, no jazz, modern music.
  • Dining room food started out OK and got worse, it was edible but defintly not the quality food served on other lines. You won't starve but it's quite bland.
  • Room steward was excellent.
  • Charged 20 dollars for tender to the private island, take the tender to Sanama instead.
  • Our wait staff was the worse of any cruise I have taken for dinner. Our lunch waiters were excellent though.
  • No sail away entertainment, all deck chairs are stored by 6 every night.
  • The omelets , burgers, hot dogs were not edible in my book. Especially the hamburger.
  • Coffee and ice tea only at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Otherwise you had to pay for your drinks. The cups used were about 3 or 4 oz.

These are just a few of my opinions of this cruise. Overall we had a great time, except for the food. it's a discount cruise line and we went for the islands they visited. Plus the price. Would we do it again, maybe, just bring a walkman for your musical entertainment if your under 65. since the line caters to a mostly older crowd.

pat,

since you were on the ship for thanksgiving were there any kids on the ship?

did you notice a kids program?

did they have a disco?

The day you arrived, can you eat in the dinning room or do you have to go to

the self serve food area?

What time did they let their guests embark onto the ship?

thanks

cheryl

cheryl,

There were very few kids on board. I would say no more then maybe 40 and most were very young (babys). They did have a kids game room and a arcade. The times I looked in I did not see anything going on. The kids where mostly with the parents or by the pool. They have a disco on the 12th deck that does not open until 11 at night. Most nights its was pretty vacant. On arrival you can eat at the buffet only for lunch. We arrived late and boarded at 2 and it only took 10 or 15 minutes to get on the ship since there was no line. People started boarding about noon though.
