cruisin1982 Posted June 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2018 Read they are active twice a year. What time of year is it. Is there spray you can use. Do they bite if you just walking on the beach Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Crazy Piglet Posted June 23, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2018 Sea lice are actually jelly fish larva in the water, not on the beach. I believe there is something you can get to help avoid problems with them, but I have no personal experience. I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the product or times of year the "lice" are most prevalent. Hopefully someone with more experience and knowledge will see this post. moki'smommy Posted June 23, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 23, 2018 I saw the post, but decided I wasn't up for a full lecture on the subject. Google will quickly turn up all the info you need. We had an issue with them on one cruise out of almost 40....30 on DCL, but not all stopped at Castaway Cay.
cruisin1982 Posted June 24, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted June 24, 2018 Ok I looked up on google still couldn’t see what time of year you can expect them to be bad Sent from my iPhone using Forums
moki'smommy Posted June 24, 2018 #5 Share Posted June 24, 2018 Early September is reported to be bad. We've done late September several times with no problems. They are only bad for a few weeks at a time. There is another season, but I don't remember when it is. Definitely not October-February.
cruisin1982 Posted June 25, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted June 25, 2018 Thanks moki you are the expert on cruising. You in the business or just lucky to cruise as often as you do Sent from my iPhone using Forums
moki'smommy Posted June 25, 2018 #7 Share Posted June 25, 2018 Not in the business in any way, shape, or form. We cruise about twice a year. We started a long time ago on DCL--July, 1998. For many years,we did just DCL. However, in the last few years we have been looking around and have cruised on other lines due to a combination of really high DCL prices and limited itineraries. In 2009 we did Alaska on Celebrity because I'd rather spend my money on expensive excursions than on the Disney name when the cruise was mostly about scenery and wildlife. We did a 7 night "try out" cruise on Princess in 2015, and then did 20 nights in Japan in 2016. You can't do that on Disney. I love DCL and the definitely do the best entertainment I've seen on any line. But I do wish that they weren't earning quite so much for their shareholders!
