Panama City Hotel

Looking for suggestions on a safe affordable hotel in Panama City for one night before cruise departure. I would like it to be in walking distance of attractions/restaurants.

Venito is a big, lavish, casino-type hotel downtown, sometimes with special rates http://www.venetopanama.com/ If you want something with less flash, but nice try the Country Inn which overlooks the Canal. Pay the $10 or so extra for a Canal view room. http://www.countryinns.com/hotels/pancanal Or if you're really on a budget, and want a nice B&B http://www.bedandbreakfastpanama.com/ La Estancia, up on Ancon Hill with monkeys outside your verandah, and the Panama Canal Headquarters building just down the hill. Wall up to the top of the hill for a fantastic view of Panama City and the Canal, especially at sunrise! At La Estancia bring your own bottle, and "order out" for pizza or other delivery - simple, but fun!
