kcrandy Posted October 17, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Can someone verify for me if the following is true or not? I was told at Paynes Bay you can swim out to where the catamarans are and swim with the turtles. Some people say it can be difficult. Some say if the waves are choppy, don't even attempt the swim. Is there a way to find out in Bridgetown how rough the water would be before I take the time to make the trip if I won't be able to swim with the turtles? Thanks
WaggesAZ Posted October 17, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Here is a link to a thread here about swimming out on your own: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1156197 I swear that I recently read here where Aplmac posted a weather link, but I don't remember the topic to refer you to. I would think the waves would depend on the weather, but as Native Arizonan, I don't have the real life experience to back it up! Maybe he will come and post here to let you know if there is a way to research it once you come into port. Good luck and safe travels to you! Thanks We have taken the local bus to Paynes bay and swam out to see the turtles, it was great! We are doing it again this November, the water was not rough but you do need to swim out there a little ways. We wore our snorkel vests in case we got tired or something. There is also a small ship wreck there too. :)
