Just trawled through the other post and surprised that no one mentioned the obvious Rod Stewart song .... Sailing from the Atlantic Crossing album. It marked Rod's transition into mediocrity and officially killed the best live band ever .... the Faces. :)

Midnight on the Bay by Neil Young (although it may be on a Crosby, Still, Nash and Young album). It was not a real popular song, but it is perfect.

"Midnight on the Bay, the moon is shining

On the sailboats that sway.

That cool ocean breeze, blowing down through the Keys

I think I'll call it a day."

 

You can hear the waves on the beach in the background through the whole song.
