Miracle Questions

Just booked the Miracle West. Carib. out of Tampa for Thanksgiving week. This is our second Carnival Cruise having gone out on the Glory last New Years for the Eastern Carib. We are in our late 30's with no kids.

Obviously there were no Cat. 11 wrap around balconies left; so, I went for a Cat. 8F on Deck 7 (Verandah Deck) for $1,000 less than a midship Cat 11 on Deck 6 with the same size balcony. Hope the aft has a good ride if seas get rough.

On to my questions. Please don't feel that you need to answer them all and please feel free to add any tips or comments that you have. All help is very welcome!

1. Anyone have experience with a Cat 8F in the aft portion of the ship? If so, let me know your thoughts as I can probably still go to the Cat. 11 if necessary.

2. I was given four dinner times to choose from, but it appears that there is only one dining room (Glory had two). Can anyone confirm that there is only one dining room and that the times are staggered for early and late seatings?

3. Does the casino offer poker? The Glory did not; only blackjack. But, with poker gaining in popularity, I thought Carnival might have started including it.

4. What nights were the formal nights?

5. Anyone bring their own wine and pay the corkage fee? If so, what fee were you charged?

6. Is Carnival still adding tips to your sign and sail account and requiring you to tell them to take them off if you want to tip in person?

7. I assume the supper club is great (it was on the Glory). Any negative comments on the upcharge dining option?

8. Any comments on the excursions? Any that are very good or very bad?

9. Anyone know what brand of bottled water they are selling on board?

10. Was chair saving a problem? It was a mess on the Glory forcing me to get up at 6 a.m. to go and save chairs and go back to bed. I hated doing it, but it was either that or not get a chair. Is any one pool or area of the ship better for enjoying at sea days?

11. Any experience with rough seas on the West. Carib. route?

12. Anyone have copies of the Capers for this route?

Thanks!!!!

On the cruise from Baltimore it was the first sea day, (day after sailing) and two days before disembarking. (the last night is spent packing).

I will be on the Miracle this weekend. I may be able to answer some of your questions on my return. Usually the Western Caribbean is not rough, unless you are going thru a hurricaine or a weather distrubance. I will let you know what I find out.

TeamLeagleEagles - I will also be on that cruise. Definitely come join our roll call - there is a good group of CC'ers on board that sailing. I will be on your deck with you - I am in an 8G - Cabin 7112. Did you book a specific cabin or a guarantee?

Also, I have to ask - are you a lawyer or something like that (your name)? I'm a Paralegal, so it caught my eye and I had to ask. :)

We booked a specific cabin, #7292.

I went to the roll call and posted there as well.

I am an attorney with Universal Studios in Orlando. Teamlegaleagles is the name of my fantasy football teams, and I tend to use it for logins elsewhere.

Any thoughts on shore excursions. We did not sign up for any our last cruise, but would like to do one or two this time. Also, are we going to Grand Cayman, or is that up in the air?

Teamlegaleagles - I just saw your post on our roll call and replied there. Another person in the legal field. I am a Paralegal in the Estate Planning/Trust Administration & Litigation field. I have been working as a Legal Administrative Assistant for the same firm for 4 1/2 years and actually was just hired by another firm as a Paralegal. I start my new job November 8 - work 8 days then go on vacation! Ya gotta like that! :D

Anyway, you are the same deck as my Stepbrother and I are on - same side (port side) - you are at the same part of the ship in the back (a couple cabins from the back) as we are in the front of the ship.

As for shore excursions, I always book my own. I do a lot of research (even bring along a file with me, with inserts for my flight, hotel, the ship, each port, etc.) - I know - I'm a little obsessive when it comes to that. But, it always seems to help me out. We have booked horseback riding in Costa Maya, and I will be delivering a laptop computer to the elementary school from another CC poster. There is also a "Costa Maya Beach Break Party" which is $25 for use of beach chairs and all-you-can-drink (froo-froo drinks included) the whole time you are there - which is really a pretty good deal. The other ports, so far, are planning on just hanging out at the beach and doing a little souvenir shopping in town. From what I hear, Grand Cayman is opening back up for cruise ships tomorrow - on a limited schedule, but I think we'll be ok.

Any other questions, feel free to ask!
