can't wait in michigan Posted September 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2009 I have never sailed Carnival... only done RC. Can you buy a bottle of alcohol on board and take it to your room? You used to be able to do this with Royal Caribbean, but they don't allow it anymore. Also for the cruisers who've done both lines, what is your opinion on Carnival vs. Royal Caribbean. DPurcell58 Posted September 8, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 8, 2009 Just came back from first time Carnival after 8 Royal cruises. Would say we like Royal better, food was better on Royal. Not that we didn't have a nice trip, just like certain things on Royal more. No, you can't bring a bottle back to your room, but you can bring one bottle of wine or champagne per adult onto the ship. Enjoy your cruise.
gail811 Posted September 8, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2009 I have sailed Royal Caribbean once and was very happy with our cruise. I have sailed all others on Carnival and have always had a great cruise too. So many ships to compare between the two cruiselines, I would find it hard to say with my limited experience. Carnival allows you to carry one bottle of wine or champagne onboard for each adult. There are a lot of threads on here about "smuggling" alcohol, but you cannot buy it on the ship and take it to your cabin. I think you can pre-order it and have a bottle waiting for you in your cabin though.
*Mach* Posted September 8, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2009 You can order a bottle of liquor through the Bon Voyage department. Call 800-522-7648. :)
Bermuda C Posted September 8, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 8, 2009 That's right... One bottle of wine per adult in the cabin. No corkage fee if you just drink in your cabin. You've got the "smuggling" options. Many threads on that one. As a previous poster wrote you can pre-order through the Bon Voyage dept. Pretty pricey, but an option.
