Are wheelchairs available in New Orleans?

We have been to the NO port once and that was before the hurricane. Then when we went inside I asked for a wheelchair and they gave me one and wheeled me onto the ship when it was time to board. My TA has put it on my papers that I need a wheelchair. I won't need one if there is not a long line or it is not a long way to walk to get on the ship. It just depends.

I will be traveling with a relative who has some mobility problems. Are Wheelchairs available in New Orleans for embarkation? How does this work - do we tip a porter to role her on the ship?

Thanks for any hints.

Yes, there will be a Carnival Rep. directing people... Just tell her you need a wheelchair, and she will call for one. A crew member will roll you to the front of the line and to VIP check-in, and then to the cabin... You should be on board in about 15 minutes... Yes, I always tip the crew member nicely, as the ramps and gangways are very steep in places. Just notify the pursers office and you will receive the same service at debarkation~~!!~~
