We are sailing the eastbound Brilliance of the Seas Transatlantic 4/29/05 and want to know what at-sea weather and temperatures at this time (April/May ) we should expect on our 6 days at sea. Specifically, is it warm enough at sea to be around the pool? A reply from anyone who has sailed a transatlantic at this time of year would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Michael...in 2003 we sailed on the MS Noordam around the middle of April on an eastbound transatlantic. We embarked on the ship in Tampa and then stopped in Key West before going across the Atlantic. We were sailing to Lisbon as our port of disembarkation. It got cooler and cooler as we headed east...and it was a bit windy at times too...so from my recollections...after about 2 days out from Key West...there was only one male pax that ventured into the pool. And most of us IF we sat out by the pool were fully clothed and not sitting around in bathing suits. About the 4th or 5th day at sea...we also encountered a storm and that kept some people away from the dining room let alone being outside. But all in all we loved the transatlantic sailing...so much so that when we returned home we CX a 12 day Caribbean cruise we had booked for that fall and instead had our TA look for another transatlantic sailing. So we then did a westbound transatlantic sailing about 6 months later on the Millenium which was from Barcelona to Ft. Lauderdale! But the great thing is that besides the sea days...we had some really interesting ports-of-call...most were off the beaten path ports...like the Azores, Madeira, Gibralter, Cadiz etc. And we have just booked another westbound transatlantic for November of 2005 on HAL's MS Prinsendam!

So enjoy your sailing...bring clothing to layer...and post if you have other questions that we can help you with!
