Just signed for the Jan 2 Barbados Windward Islands. Hoping to hear from others coming along. Also, any info. from those that have been there done that.

This is our 1st Star cruise-just sold our sailboat and we are going to just relax and enjoy the idea of not having to fix something every day.

Staying Jan 1 at the Savannah

Thanks

See this thread for some info about the Royal Windward Islands itinerary- http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1061746

Not a good idea to have your email address as part of your signature block. What kind of sailboat did you have?

Enjoy!

On the Royal as a former owner, you will enjoy true sailing - the sense of the water and the motion. This crate can hit 20 knots with right conditions ! You will also notice fairly fancy decor - not so nautical or crowded as you knew before. I would say the decor is hodge podge and shows European influence - clearly this is not Horatio Hornblower's ship. Food great - no powdered eggs. Sailing course is good - close in when it makes sense. You can fiddle around near/in the helm room - it is not complex but it is a lot fancier than any barge you ever saw. Crew is good - officers are top talent. These people understand sailing, not driving. The main deck is wonderful - but not a theme park - pools are like wading pools, no more. Even with full house you will not feel crowded or run over by fellow pax. Barbados is pleasant but not the best place in terms of attitude and beauty for visit - treat is as a waypoint and keep moving - if you stay overnight, make damned sure hotel is good one - they have them- and they have dives.

thanks for a reply. I was beginning to think no info. was forthcoming.

Looking forward to the sail. We booked at the Savannah which is also used by Star Clippers. One night only and understand it is close to the departure docks.

Only downer is the use of the Euro. Ouch!!
