What is the scoop on Carnival Destiny?

Looking for some fast answers here. I am still trying to book a cruise for a large group of us and haven't sold them on a cruise yet. I consider one cruise and someone doesn't like something about it so I make other considerations.

Now, more than once person in the group is saying to look at Carnival. I really could care less at this point on which cruise line we go on as long as we are going to have a good time and they meet minimum standards of comfort, quality, and fun.

I see there are some really long reviews out there but pretty much want a bunch of smaller ones to batch compare.

The cruise dates fall pretty much on a weekend and this cruise goes to Cozumel and Key West. I am hoping for responses that sailed on this cruise. However, anyone who has sailed on Destiny a reply would be appreciated.

1. How is the food? I was just on RCCL and wasn't great at all. I have been on the Fascination and it was much better than RCCL. Should I expect the same on the Destiny?

2. Kids Program on Destiny? Is it good? And what are the minimum ages to participate

3. Casino-I know this isn't Vegas but if anyone knows about craps there do you know if they offer more than single odds? Is the casino always busy and will you always be able to find a seat?

4. Ports of Call-Did you find enough time there and how were the excursions.

5. Staterooms, Service and cleanliness/decor of entire ship: Were they satisfactory?

Thank you very much.

I ahve not been on the Destiny yet but I can comment on the food. It seems to be the same on all the ships so if you were happy with it on the Facination you should be good on the Destiny.

As to the question about the ports you might want to check out the discussion about each port. they can give you a great idea of what to expect form each area.

wow...this is news to me. I need to call my PVP. I sail Destiny in 27 days. However, having said that, I have visited both Nassau and Freeport and acutally don't mind going back to either! And if they offer 20% off the next cruise, even better!!!!

I can see it now. The entire boiler room goes bang bang bang and the ship stays out at sea until another ship comes by to take the folks home. Although, it would certainly probably been a very nice cruise I don't think I would be comfortable sailing on this ship.

I talked to my PVP, who got a hold of the Sailmaster. The word is that no changes have been announced yet for the November sailings. That said, if it is true that the repairs require drydocking, they would have to cancel itineraries.

Having been to Freeport several times previously, I hope that they don't change my Nov 16 (Grand Turk/Nassau,HMC) itinerary.
