Metal Detecting Hobby

My DH metal detects as a hobby. He has called Carnival and they told him that he could bring his metal detector on the Glory when we sail on Jan 29. We would like to know if anyone has any experiences with metal detecting in the Western Caribbean route. We will be sailing to Key West, Belize, Cozumel and Progresso. Thanks for any info. Trissia
