DallasSteve Posted January 5, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2005 Does anyone know if RCCL still prohibits posting Friends of Dorothy meetings in their daily schedules? I know in the past they've refused to, but didn't know if that's changed. Thanks.
premiumrican Posted January 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2005 I was on RCCL's AOS last April and no FOD was published in the schedules. So strange because back in '98 I sailed on the Monarch from SJU and they had a FOD on the schedule for the first evening. I wonder why they stopped them. adamken Posted January 9, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2005 Hi guys, we have been on two Royal Caribbean Cruises in 2003, & 04, the Navigator & Mariner, on both occasions an FOD party was listed in our daily compass, which thrilled us, we met many people there, including a lot of the cruise staff & entertainment. A few of the Ice skaters and the piano bar attended, we probably had 25 show up...The 1st year we asked the cruise director for an FOD party which he put in the compass and last year it appeared on the first day. BuckeyeCruiser Posted January 11, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 11, 2005 We worked very hard to have a FOD on VOS last October. The cruise director wanted to very much and he was able to pull it off becasue his girl friend told him there were 100 of us in our group. He had to go through someone else, I think the hotel manager but don't remember who it was for sure. He said they don't do them any more. He was VERY gay friendly and worked at it. So I would encouge you to ask early. We also got to know the dancers and singers early on in the disco and that help some with making our case to him. They was 20 in our group so that did help some rather than just two of us showing up. They did do a very nice party for us. Two of the singers sang and they had a piano player. Good Luck! DaveWA Posted January 11, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2005 In 2003 on the Serenade Transatlantic someone requested a FOD Party at Guest Relations. They were told no. When the CD found out that guest realtions said "no" he was not happy. We had two parties and the CD was at both of them (HUMM). I don't recall his name, but the CD has a lot to do with what happens on a ship. If they want a FOD Party, there will be one, if the CD doesn't want one, there won't be one. Don't give up 'til you talk to the CD and if he says no you're pretty much out of luck. Not fair, but that seems to be how it falls out.
Kellerbums Posted January 16, 2005 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2005 Hey there......we will be sailing in May on the AOS. Do we just send an email to the cruise line to ask about a FOD party? Or do we need to make contact with the cruise director? Just wondering. :D

Jaxxgent Posted January 19, 2005 #10 Share Posted January 19, 2005 Cool! We had a great time, too! Been trying to find some family planning to sail on Mariner October 9 this year, but no luck so far. I'm sure some will turn up! When we board I'll check with CD about a FOD party.
