Metal Dectecting on Beaches

My DH's hobby is metal detecting. He has called Carnival and they told him that it would be OK to bring his metal detector. The gentleman that he spoke with also made it sound as if it would be no problem using the detector in ports. I, however, am a bit nervous about this. We do not know the laws concerning metal detecting in Mexico. After having read about renting a car and being thrown in jail if an accident occurs and you do not have proper insurance, I do not want anything to go wrong on this cruise. Any advise in this area would be appreciated. Thank you, Trissia

I have a friend who brought a metal detector down. He used it on the beach on the other side of the island with no problem. I don't think he found anything.

I remember sitting on Waikiki at sunup and at least 4 people came by me using their detectors. Almost all of them stopped and picked items up, I couldn't see what they found. I'd be surprised if the same thing didn't happen at Paradise Beach.

We see them from time to time here...ya won't get thrown in jail, no worries! A tip for your husband-Make sure you check the volleyball courts. People lose their rings there all the time, ESPECIALLY newlyweds who aren't used to their new hardware!
