Genawithane Posted October 25, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2009 We're going to Bermuda Nov. 7 on the Explorer of the Seas. I'm wondering if it will be too late to enjoy snorkeling. We're relative newbies at it and were thinking of renting snorkel gear at Horseshoe Bay. so - does anyone know if they will still be open to rent snorkel gear then, and whether two upper middle-aged ladies would find it still enjoyable? iheartbda Posted October 25, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2009 Lifeguards are only on duty til Oct. 31 and it might be questionable as to whether or not the concession stand will be open to rent snorkel gear. You may have a better chance at Snorkel Park at Dockyard since it's so near the ships. Mmmmm, average water temperature in Nov.is going to be around 72F. If you're game, go for it.:)
BermudaMom Posted October 26, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 26, 2009 Horseshoe Bay is not somewhere I'd suggest for snorkeling unless you are a good enough swimmer to go out to the reef line and only if it's low tide. Otherwise it's mostly sand, sand and more sand.
Winnterpeg Posted November 2, 2009 #4 Share Posted November 2, 2009 I spent 4 years working in Bermuda. Nope...snorkeling's a bad idea. The water will be significantly cooler and a lot rougher.
karen_cpa Posted November 3, 2009 #5 Share Posted November 3, 2009 Just got off the NCL Dawn on 11/1. Plenty of people were snorkeling at Snorkel Park in the Dockyard during our trip. Found the water very pleasant, certainly warm enough to enjoy.
