USD? How do we pay in Cozumel?

Just curious, will taxis take USD? Also, what about shops if we shop on our own separate from any cruise tours?:confused::confused::confused:

Every place I've ever been in Coz - from upscale shops to flea market style vendors - as well as every cab I've ever ridden in, accepted US dollars as payment. Most post their prices in both dollars and pesos.

 

Only suggestion I'd have is to bring smaller denomination dollars (i.e. try to avoid anything over $20 bills, so you don't "break" their change bank.

I agree with SeaPA1 ~ sometimes cab drivers won't have enough change if you have only large bills.

Take small bills or you may end up with change in pesos or even candy. I have never found any tourist based business in Cozumel that would not take US dollars.
