Port Arrival Time - Honolulu

Our cruise brochure says we will arrive in Honolulu at 8:00 am. There are shore excursions scheduled that leave at 8:00 am. I want to do an independent tour, but the tour operator would pick me up at the ship at 8:30 am. Do you think this is cutting it too close? If the brochure says arrival at 8:00 am, does that mean you can actually get off the ship by that time?

That may be the official arrival time, but I have never been on a ship that did not arrive much earlier than the official time, often around 4-6am.

When we were on POA this summer, there were lots of people walking off the ship by 8am.

I'd go ahead and book it.
