Anyone recently stay at Doubletree Suites Galleria Ft. Lauderdale?

Wondering what this hotel is like. Is it clean, nice pool area? How far from the beach is it? We only need it for 1 night post-cruise so it doesn't have to be great, but want it to be clean and have a decent pool for the kids. Thanks for any info.

We have stayed here, although it has been quite a few years. It is about a 5 minute walk to the beach, and also is on the intercoastal. You will also be about a 10 to 15 minute ride away from port with the traffic. We had a nice suite with 2 double beds in 1 room, and a pull-out sofa in the other. It also had 2 full baths. Request a room overlooking the intercoastal, not overlooking Sunrise Blvd.,as these can be quite noisy, especially with the bridge going up and down. The pool area was small-nothing to get excited about, but adequate. I can't comment on the condition of the suites. You will also be right next to the Galleria Mall which has just had a complete renovation and has quite a few good places to eat. An alternative for you would be the Embassy Suites which are closer to the port.

Thnaks for the info. It is helpful, but hope that someone has been there recently who can comment on the current condition of the hotel. The size of the room sounds nice. May be able to get this hotel for $75/nite, whereas, the Embassy suites is much more expensive.
