We are on the same cruise. Started to do some port research. One website says the following on Colon:

"Simply put, Panama’s most notorious city is a sprawling slum of decaying colonial grandeur and desperate human existence"

Will definately be going on an excursion or staying on the ship when docked in Colon.

Been there twice. The second time we stayed on the ship!

We had a night tour of the city and it was terrible! We were taken through some awful places - stumbling in the dark on uneven ground. It was amazing nobody fell and broke bones! We got taken to their theatre which was under renovation. I was the first person back on the bus. The best thing about the tour was the small bottle of water they gave us on the bus. My husband reckoned it was the most expensive water ever - given the cost of the tour! We even missed our dinner that night.
