fastforward Posted November 26, 2009 #76 Share Posted November 26, 2009 Oh I do like the topic. The need for sarcasm is surely self evident? Only from you, but yet again you have a track record for it.
Norfolk Brit Posted November 26, 2009 #77 Share Posted November 26, 2009 I say, Stroppers/Fastforward, old thing, you're usually pretty quick at answering questions, but I don't seem to have had a reply to mine yet. Sir Martin

LibraLass41 Posted November 26, 2009 #81 Share Posted November 26, 2009 Is instant coffee not real:eek: Thats what i thought Derek. I drink Kenco Rich Roast, its freeze-dried soluble coffee, and tastes very good. Out and about I drink in coffee houses. Theres not much point me making coffee from beans at home, because I'm the only one drinking it, too much faff for one.
Beckyfaye-2008 Posted November 26, 2009 #82 Share Posted November 26, 2009 Sue We dont drink a lot of coffee, average at home about a cup a day, we buy Kenco Smooth Roast, as you say its freeze-dried soluble coffee. When we are out, will normally have a latte, but that varies, as some places over do the milk.;)
stopgo Posted November 26, 2009 #83 Share Posted November 26, 2009 Actually, all Latte's should have the same ratio of milk to coffee, at least they are taught that in Starbucks.
Johnthed0g Posted November 26, 2009 #84 Share Posted November 26, 2009 We thought it was too much trouble to make ''proper coffee'' at home but to be honest by the time the kettle has boiled it's no different really timewise. So is it just us that make coffee then?
Beckyfaye-2008 Posted November 26, 2009 #85 Share Posted November 26, 2009 Ill change the wording from my original question. Is Instant Coffee, not proper Coffee? Its made from ground Coffee beans, is it not? Or does it only count as proper when you grind your own!!!
Johnthed0g Posted November 26, 2009 #86 Share Posted November 26, 2009 I would say that no, instant coffee is not generally regarded as "proper" coffee. The same as comments about ''House'' wine not being as good, usually, as by the bottle. Last cruise this was true as well!

That is exactly why instant is not real. Coffee (save for espresso, which is a slightly different animal) is a suspension, not a solution.

Interesting...didn't realise that, but I suppose when you make espresso you use one of those container things with the handle in a machine, leaving the coffee "grounds" behind. I suppose also you get more of these grounds using a cafetiere?
