lilpinklady Posted January 19, 2005 Author #26 Share Posted January 19, 2005 I'm cruising on the sensation later this year, wanted to know what the excercise room/classes were like.. and how bad the smoke was in the bars/ shows.. I know this can vary a lot by cruise.. but figured I'd ask. Umm...What's the pool like? and did you have an oceanview cabin.. what are they like? This is hubby and my first cruise.. and we're splurging on a OV room. ditto
Peyton6 Posted January 19, 2005 #27 Share Posted January 19, 2005 We had an inside room this time - I thought I would go nuts being "inside" with no window, but it didn't bother me at all! The rooms were larger than the ones on RCCL - in my opinion! The smoke was not bad at all - maybe a little in the casino and the one bar designated as a smoking bar - but it wasn't bad. There are only certain parts of the ship where you can smoke. We never did any of the exercise classes - but we walked about 2 miles the first morning up on the sports track - it was sooo windy and we laughed the whole time. We saw lots of runners up there! Sorry i couldn't be of more help - I am sure the OV rooms are really nice!

tygercruiser Posted January 22, 2005 #30 Share Posted January 22, 2005 Robbie, The Sea Bands are the wrist bands. I got them at one of the pharmacies (I think Walgreens). I purchased the Ginger Trips at a health food store. They contain ginger root extract and Vitamin B-6. Hope this helps!
brcris75 Posted January 22, 2005 #31 Share Posted January 22, 2005 Thanks tygercruiser! I may check into the bands. Are the Ginger Trips pill form? I don't like the taste of ginger so just wondered! lol Robbie
tygercruiser Posted January 25, 2005 #32 Share Posted January 25, 2005 Robbie, The Ginger Trips are chewable and do taste like ginger, but they're not real strong and I actually liked the taste. Good luck!
jjb009 Posted January 25, 2005 #33 Share Posted January 25, 2005 Just got back yesterday from the SENSATION (4 day)...I'll try to answer any questions that you have. - Gina - (and anyone else for that matter!) My wife and I are going 03/17/05 (our first cruise) anything you recommend either on the ship or in Cozumel? It's our first vacation away from the kids in three years and I CAN'T WAIT! GoinCruisin Posted January 26, 2005 #34 Share Posted January 26, 2005 Thanks tygercruiser! I may check into the bands. Are the Ginger Trips pill form? I don't like the taste of ginger so just wondered! lolRobbie brcris, I take ginger capsules (bought enough at GNC for MANY cruise, CHEAP!!!!).... I rely on them not only for cruising but for anything that might make me queasy... I even take them when I have a flu bug. I overdo it a bit for a cruise, just because I don't want to get sick! LOL! I take 1000mg (2 pills) the night before, then another dose in the morning, and then another dose before departing... then just when I think I need them... best thing about ginger is that it is all natural and there are no side effects. I like the capsules because they have a long shelf life.... good luck!
cruizinfool61 Posted January 26, 2005 #35 Share Posted January 26, 2005 I'm cruising on the sensation later this year, wanted to know what the excercise room/classes were like.. and how bad the smoke was in the bars/ shows.. I know this can vary a lot by cruise.. but figured I'd ask. Umm...What's the pool like? and did you have an oceanview cabin.. what are they like? This is hubby and my first cruise.. and we're splurging on a OV room. I found the smoke in the casino to be the worse. It was a killer to even walk by the area. I hate smoke and that was the ONLY place that it bothered me at all. I do not recall anyone smoking at the shows....maybe they were smoke free....I was having so much fun I did not notice. Also, if you need seasick pills, the pursers desk will give them to you for free. When I cruised, I did not need them...the ships rocking was bothersome to me in the Fantasia lounge....the ends of the ship and the higher up I got was the worst of all. My cabin on R deck was very smooth and the gentle motion in the cabin at night put me right to sleep. We also had an oceanview room and it was great to have the big window. It was not a small porthole and had a huge curtain that blocked the daytime sun if you needed a nap. The room was great. Plenty of room to unpack...two hanging areas and shelves and drawers. There is a safe for your valuables and a vanity. The bathroom was roomy and the shower huge...big enough for two. My only problem was the medicine cabinet...it WAS LARGE...but too high for a shorty to really see in the mirror. Loved the room!
my2dogs Posted January 26, 2005 #36 Share Posted January 26, 2005 Has anyone gone to the steamroom or sauna on the Sensation? What were they like? I loved them on the Conquest (went every morning). Is there a window in the steamroom? Does the gym have a hot tub? Thanks for any info.
brcris75 Posted January 26, 2005 #37 Share Posted January 26, 2005 GoinCruisin Thanks for the info on the ginger capsules. I think I will try them. I've been on 4 cruises and never gotten sick, but am always afraid I will! Especially with all I keep reading about how rocky the Sensation is (going on her in April). Funny thing is I get real car sick but never have on a cruise. Maybe because it's a different kind of movement?
Kay129 Posted January 28, 2005 #38 Share Posted January 28, 2005 To the past Sensation guests, did you feel 5 nights was long enough? Also, what category did you stay in and did you enjoy your room? Yes, I've been reading the reviews :) and I am hungry for more info!
