alrose251 Posted December 2, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 2, 2009 One of the pages of the menu, it states a 20% service will be added to credit card purchases. Is this for a tip or a fee for using a credit card? Don't mind if it is the tip, but certainly don't want to tip 20% and then get charge another 20% for using my credit card!!! Anyone know? Thanks
SeaPA1 Posted December 2, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 2, 2009 I believe that is a fee for using a credit card - it is in addition to the tip paid to the server.

Name Of The Game Posted December 2, 2009 #5 Share Posted December 2, 2009 Better solution - go somewhere that has no minimum purchase required. :D
alrose251 Posted December 2, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted December 2, 2009 Better solution - go somewhere that has no minimum purchase required. :D I think you might be right, since it usually cost a merchant about 4% to accept credit cards!!!!! Snorkel2Much Posted December 3, 2009 #7 Share Posted December 3, 2009 It's 15% gratuity, 5% card processing fee. There's an older thread around where Tom explained it. found it: Just to clear things up...many beach clubs (like us) add 20% when you pay using a credit card. 5% goes towards the bank fee and 15% to the waiter. This is stated on the menus of the beach clubs. The waiter doesn't just add on whatever he wants. When you pay with a card, the bill is in pesos 'cause, well, we're in Mexico! The original bill is in pesos and also in dollars since the vast majority of tourists pay in USD. When you pay in cash, there is no tip added. Have a great day! http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=20314573&postcount=
