Post cruise which of these hotels would you choose and why??

If you want to be on the beach, Radisson andThe Mariott, Beach Place Tower (and The Marriott Harbor Beach Resort) are all on the beach and within walking distance to shops, restaurants etc...

 

Marriott Beach Place Tower is in the Heart of Ft. Lauderdale Beach entertainment district. Radisson is a quick two block walk to the main entertainment district of shops and restaurants, but still directly accross from the beach.

 

The Hyatt is a nice hotel too, just not right on the beach. It is however, right accross from Port Everglades, so you will have great views of the ships when they are in port. Taxi from the hyatt to Ft. Laud. Beach entertainment district is approximately $5-$8. It is easy to get taxis in the beach area for your return to the hotel.

At the Hyatt you only get great views of the port from the Pier Top Lounge or if you book a tower room. Their basic "lanai" rooms are in the 2-story wings behind the hotel and either overlook gardens and the pool or marina (or even possibly parking lot). Paying extra is well worth it if you enjoy the view.

they hyatt is our choice. we think the pool is great. we like to stroll by the yachts. and, of course, have a martini (or two) at the top of the tower. (the marriott marina has a better restaurant, though).

 

we've stayed at pier 66 three times now. we noticed, however, some negative comments posted on tripadvisor.com and others. the complaints focused on musty-smelling rooms one the first-floor linae section. in december, we traveled with my parents who are smokers. their room was on the first floor. BLECH. the smell was overwhelming. anyone with allergies couldn't take it. and, really, anyone else would have struggled. when we complained, the hyatt moved them to a much smaller room on the other side of the complex. it was on the second floor (like ours) and had no odor. of course, i can't say whether all the first-floor rooms are like this...but you may want to request a second-floor room on check in to be safe.
