Coasty Posted December 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2009 Looking for a few recommendations for Scuba diving excursions during our NCL cruise. Would prefer not to book with the ship. Will be on the Jewel Christmas week in Belize.
jdbmga Posted December 17, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 17, 2009 We dove in July in Belize with Coral Breeze Tours http://www.coralbreezetours.com/ I would not do it again, in fact, we are in Belize July 2010 and are going to do the cave tubing and atv tour. I see you are also in Roatan, have you thought about diving there instead? That's our plan for July 2010
OttoCal Posted December 17, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 17, 2009 Have not used them, but I know there is a dive shop associated with the Radisson Fort George Hotel, and it is close to the cruise ship terminal. Perhaps you could check this group out and see if it fits your needs. As a note, dives in Belize may be more expensive than some of your other locations because the boats have to go farther, so more gas needed. kthy66 Posted December 17, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 17, 2009 I just booked the Fly and Dive with ecotoursbelize. I heard it was a blast over on the scuba board http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1069185

Why? Bad diving? Bad operator? Both? I have heard the diving in Belize is quite good.

Friscorays Posted January 13, 2010 #7 Share Posted January 13, 2010 I'll cross them off of the list of potential choices. Thank you for the quick reply.
RDH Posted January 24, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 24, 2010 I also used coral breeze for scuba diving in Sept and it was the worst dive. I was told that the experienced divers would be seperate from the people that have never dived before. I was told wrong. I waited on the boat as the dive master gave a lesson to the beginngers. Then had to wait as they practiced in the water. Once we finially got to dive, the dive itself was good. After our second dive the boat would not start and after several times of trying to hand start the outboard motor they called another boat to come to get us. As we were waiting for the second boat the crew continued to try to start the motor and they got it going. The crew asked us if we wanted to go to beach like were surpose to do or back to the peir. We decided to go back to the peir because of the time and we were worried that the boat may not start again. P.S I forgot to metion that during the second dive the dive master lost one of the new divers and my husband and 2 other fellow divers had to help him locate her. Friscorays Posted January 25, 2010 #9 Share Posted January 25, 2010 I usually book my own excursions but will probably end up using the NCL dive option in Belize. I believe they use Hugh Parkey and I generally see good reviews about his operation.
