Hi ed. I love casinos too. It's the last bastion where i can drink, smoke, & gamble. I love bj & roulette. Tinker with certain slots also. Odds on table games are the same everywhere but the slots are real tight on all ships. It seems from my experience, that the slots are looser on the 1st & last day.

On one cruise, my buddy hit a nickle machine for 5k. He plays nothing but max bet all the way. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I enjoy the bj & slot tourneys. Inexpensive & fun to do.

I have found that slots are loose on the first night of the cruise and the last night of the cruise. That is when I have made all my money. I basically have come out even or ahead on most of the cruises that I have been on. Was on Carnival Pride in June and won a few hundred the first night and lost it all back plus some, but then won about $500 on the last day/night of the cruise.

thanks lou, you are not the first person that i have heard say the they fill the slots are loose on the first and last day. that seems weird since slots are suppose to be operated by a rng ( random number genertor ). i also enjoy the slot tournaments, played in many. never have entered the bj tournament, maybe this will be a first in late january. just a game of luck when it comes to gambling, especially on slots. just have to be at the right machine at the right time playing the right amount.

I agree about right time/right place.

I have won a slot tournament on Carnival Imagination a few years ago. That was kind of fun. $500 put me about even for the cruise. And got a ship on a stick, LOL.

for a $20 entry at the chance to win $500 you can't beat it. i really like the adreanaline of 8 or so people in a row frantically hitting the spin button as many times as they can in hopes of a high score. still haven't made it to the final round for a chance to win but maybe this is my cruise.

Craps is where the money is made. It's a blast when the table is hot, you make alot of friends, but you need to know when to walk.

never really played. i have 50 days until my cruise. do you have any suggestions on a website that can explain to me the rules and strategies. i was able find a website last year that gave me a break down sheet ( cheat sheet ) for fun 21. the casino host had no problem of me using it and boy did it work. i just can't find the website anymore.

I got hooked on playing the slots on a ship. Of course I was 13 at the time. (you had to be 18 to sit at a table, but they did not care who played the slots). I played the nickel slots until after midnight one night, and decided to go to bed. Everyone else was fast asleep already. I had three quarters, and decided to play them in a machine. I hit the jackpot on the first one. It started dinging, and out dropped a single coin with a star on it. I had no clue what it was, and took it to the cashier, who promptly gave me $75 for it. I ended up leaving the ship with more spending money than I came with.

On our last cruise where we played the slots(the last day), I ended up coming out ahead by about $100, but my DW won enough to pay for her half of the cruise.

Tarheel, go to the casino section on CC. They have a whole thread just about craps. All I can tell you is to go to the craps class on the ship, watch the game being played, and get in slow.

in Oct on the Paradise, I won $99 on the stacked wilds slots (can't remember the game's name, but I played 50 rows at 1 penny & got 4 stacks side by side-I wish I ha played at least 2 cents!

Last day, I won $200 on Frog Prince- picked the prince on my last chance & it paid 100x the bid!

Was back on Paradise & lost everything I brought!

Yes, that is correct. And there is NO first day or last day for the slot machines. They are run continuously. So everyday is just a random day.

Those passengers who won on the first/last days will tell you they are loose. Those who lost would tell you they are not. Unlike common belief, the RNG are not reset everyday, nor even every cruise.

Why? Becasue they don't have to. Once the payout percentage has been set, that is the long term payout of the machines if operated continuously for the long term. Moreover, the RNG only determines the position where the reel (mechancal or electronic) stops, not which symbol of the reel is displayed.

Here is the standard blackjack strategy. Copy/paste the table halfway through the page, print it out, and here's your cheat sheet. :D

last year I sat down at a slot machine while waiting for the casino to open after the sailaway. that I had never seen before or since that had these chickens and you needed to get at least 3 eggs on the screen to go to the bonus round. on about the 3rd spin and my spin gave me 5 eggs and I was able to pick 5 chickens which laid eggs and racked up credits. I happen to pick all of the top picks and started my cruise up $900.00. Loaded that up to my sail and sea card and played on it all week and still had quite a lot left when the cruise was over.

I've never heard of slots being loose the last night. But we all hear different things. It's been my experience that slots are loose in the begining, and tight at the end. Yes, they use a RNG, but the casino is able to set the payback. A 98% payback means the machine holds 2 bucks out of every $100.00 wagered. And that is over some period of time, or number of spins. In Las Vegas and Atlantic city, they have to file paperwork with the gambling commisions when they change the payback on any machine. And if they're checked, and it's wrong, that is a MAJOR problem for them. I doubt casinos at sea have anyone watching over them, so It's my bet that the paybacks can be changed any time they feel like it.

You asked about craps. It's not that hard if you take it in bite sized bits. But I would forget about learning it at a casino class. They will be VERY selective in what they tell you. If nothing else, concentrate on learning pass and odds bets, come bets, and place bets. That will keep you busy for awhile.

Oh, and keep your hands clear of the table when the shooter is throwing. Oh, having the dice hit your hands while you're futzing with a bet or picking up chips is bad Karma. No, don't let that happen man.

I plan on at least doing the BJ tournament. I love bj and think the tournament will be a good way to play.

 I am sure I will get another notification if I go further with this one.

OP - I have come out ahead on all my cruises playing 3 card poker. Just my experience though.
