some questions about the dollar ride to Red Hook- How often does it go from Havensight dock area? how close is it in Red hook to the ferry terminal to St. John? thank you

The 'dollar ride' doesn't go right from Havensight dock, you have to walk a bit to get it. It doesn't have a fixed schedule but generally one passes every 15-20 minutes. When you get to Red Hook, you get off right on the main road which the ferry dock entrance is on; so if you get off just at the ferry dock entrance then you are basically 1 minute walk from the ticket counter. When you get off the ship (Havensport) which way do you go to get to the jitney to Red Hook, how do you know your getting on the right one and are stops in between? How long of a ride is it? Reliable / safe?

Lastly do you have to be a resident for I read some where this was only for short distance resident hops?
