What we did in Progresso

Well we weren't sure what we would do in Progresso, our first stop on our cruise out of Mobile. We decided to take a quick bus tour which was relatively interesting and only $3 per person. Then we walked toward the beach on down the road along the beach. We stopped at a fairly popular bar/restaurant called Buddy's. We were going to have a few drinks and some lunch and walk on down the road, but we didn't leave until it was time to go to the ship. We had such a good time. We sat with a number of Retired Canadians and Americans who have found a great place to spend the winter or retire to. The owner, Remko, was very friendly and we chatted with him for awhile. After a few drinks I even got up on the bar and danced and then danced with a number of the patrons and people walking by on the sidewalk. The locals said we made their day so everyone left happy. If you get a chance go by and have a drink and say hi from the guy who danced on the bar. Also, if you want a cigar, don't buy the stuff on the street. He has the real thing and it was quite good.

We also went to Buddys on the beach, just as we did last year at this time. He provided us with a table under umbrella on the sand across the street from the bar. His waiter came across and took and delivered orders of food and bevearage all day. The kids had a great time in the water and we both got a $10 massage just yards away from where we were sitting. Buddys has clean restrooms in the back of the bar and we could cross the street for that any time. The owner is great and the prices are right.
