For those of you who have been to both ruins, how do they differ? i've been to Tulum before, but was interested in Chacchoben this time around. Are they similar in size/scope? Is it worth going to Chacchoben if I've been to Tulum?

thanks!

Ive been to both places. I think Tulum is bigger, since it is so spread out. I did find the Chacchoben ruins to be more interesting though..I think you might always wonder if you didnt go. I know thats why I went! At least you get more shade at Chacchoben, but that view at Tulum is awesome! Dot

From what i have researched.

From Costa Maya, the Chacchoben ruins is about a 50 minute bus ride from the port.

From Cozmel. the Tulum ruins are a 45 min ferry ride plus a 1hour plus bus ride, just one way.

For me, this is the deciding factor. Plus after the ruins in Costa Maya there is still beach time in the afternoon.

Are these the same ports you will be traveling to ?

If you do the Mayan Experience, there will not be beach time available.
