Can we check our luggage early and board VOS later?

We're booked on VOS on 1/17 and are planning on driving to Galveston from north of Houston in the morning. We were wondering if we can check our luggage early, then have breakfast/lunch in Galveston and board the ship later. Can anyone tell us if this is a possibility?

Yes, you can check your bags and then come back later. However, it depends on what you mean by "early". If you go really early (Before 10am) the porters may not be prepared to accept bags, so you could run the risk of waiting on them.

We did this on one of our Ecstasy cruises. Dropped off luggage to porters and then walked over to Fudruckers to eat. Not even sure if they are back open since Ike?? But yes you can do that.

Check in usually does not open til around 1045 to 1100AM.

I would check-in, get your SeaPass cards and then head out.

You don't want to be caught up in "happy hour" of 2-4 check in.:eek:

I wouldn't think about dropping bags until about 10:30 and I would check in first. That way you just have to go through security again.
