Port Canaveral Parks....

Are any of the parks in Port Canaveral within walking distance of the cruise ship terminals? (Within a mile or two) If not....is there anything that is close enough to walk to. Maybe a beach, or shopping area....a bar???

We will be at which ever terminal the Carnvial Glory docks at. I know we can take the funbus to cocoa beach...but I was wondering if there was something closer that we could just walk to.

Thanks

There are a few restaraunts on the south side of the port, but no pedestrian access from terminal 10 (where the Glory docks). I've seen people walk from the port, but wouldn't reccommend it. You'd have to walk along a major highway and across a drawbridge. There are no sidewalks. It shouldn't cost too much to get a taxi to Grill's or Rusty's. Jetty Park is also on the south side of the port. Check out Port Canaveral's website at http://www.portcanaveral.org/funport/index.htm

There is a new bar/restaurant open in the SunCruz casino building(2 doors away from Rusty's). Fishlips has a restaurant on the first floor, a sports bar and outdoor bar on the second. Bands play on the second floor deck. Grill's seafood deck and tiki bar is where the locals go. Music Wed-Sun, and people also gather there to watch the "boat ramp follies"--people screwing up loading and unloading their boat trailers. Grill's website-- http://www.sunrisemarina.com

Jetty Park is pretty cool, as is ron jon's resort. www.ronjonresort.com

Cab rides are only a couple of bucks.

We'll be on the Dawn on the 5/1 sailing and looking for a low cost offering in Port Canaveral. Does anyone know the easiest way to get to Jetty Park from the ship? We will be traveling with our two little girls (3 and 5). I think renting a car will be a hassle, what with the need for car seats and all. Can we do a cab, or would we have trouble getting one back to the ship? I read about the funbus--does it go to Jetty Park and where would we pick it up? Or is there some kind of shuttle to the park from the pier? Any and all information would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I called the fun bus phone number on port canaveral's website and found out for $6 pp the fun bus goes to jetty park, cocoa beach, and a bunch of other places as well. I think we will just do this. The lady I spoke with didn't think there were discounted prices for our kids, but even without that, it will still be only $24 for the day to get around. Sounds like a good, economical way to go. Oh, and we can always call for a pick up, which is really convenient.
