Was looking through info on cc, and clicked onto a link that says these

"penthouse" suites (catAC) have a whilpool tub that overlooks the balcony...does anyone know if this is the case, or are they mistakenly referring to the fullsized suites (Cat AB)?

Either way, it will be lovely, I'm sure...just that this was not mentioned when we booked.

Thank you for any info.

The AC's that I saw on the port side, forward, deck 10 had full windows beside the tub and even the full length of the shower. They had the most amazing views, even better, I thought, than the views from the bathrooms in the AB's that I saw. I don't know if all of the AC's are like this, but I can confirm that at least some of them are.

The showers have a pull-down shade on the inside.

Here are some pictures from a slide show of the Spirit, showing the windows in the bath area.

I was just on the spirit =we had 2 rooms #10500 and our friends were in the room next to us room#10502.At one time these were called honeymoon suites

they are directly in the front of the ship just below the bridge.

fabulous view and the bathroom areas are as big as the bedroom area, something I don`t understand .most prefer to shower room#10500 has a large oval whirlpool bath while room#10502 has a typical bathtub shape.

either of these are great rooms but I fel #10500 has more living space and is more confortable

As I know these rooms well let me know if you need any info.We also had the 2 rooms next to #10502 and all of them have doors within to enter one from the other.

Hi Bill,

I was wondering how you're cruise went and have been watching for your posts.:D

Do you rememer the "names" of the suites? I know 10502 is the Singapore, but was wondering about 10500 and 10508.

What did you think of the ship overall?

Say hi to the family for me:) .

Pediatrix, I'm happy to ba able to communicate with someone who has stayed in 10500. I'm booked into 10500 for the Alaska cruise on 6/25. You're the first person who has said that he felt that 10500 was more comfortable & felt like it had more living space. I had thought that 10502 was the preferred suite & was disappointed that I wasn't able to obtain it. If you have any pictures of 10500 I would really like to see them. What was your butlers name? What can you tell me about the service you received?

Well hi everyone

in my zeal to photograph I never took any of the suite but you will not be dissappointed

where as suite 10502 is in the front corner and has some nice features our friends were more enthused about our suite 10500

of interest is that you can open the wall between the 2 and you feel like your in a appartment!

the whirlpool is way too big but looks impressive

butler was kenny not maxi but I know both well and either will treat you well

I don`t want to give you every detail of the room so that you can be suprised

about it

But try and check in early as the lines are long -make sure you look for Vip/Suite check in line as I overlooked it and stood in line forever as newer security is in place therefor longer time before getting on board

we arrived at 2:30 thinking we could not get on til 4pm as advertized and the entire room was filled-over 700 people with the same idea

so either real early or real late -your choise

great boat-eat at all the specialty restaurants they were great

windows is more relaxed for breakfast but only open til 9:30am

raffles can be a zoo at times but I felt the food was fine everywhere on board

casino got us all-very large for a ship and lots of big players .

Glad you had a good time Bill!:D

I am trying to find a way to get aboard this ship soon. I don't see any way that it is going to be the Southern Caribbean:( . I hate to pay more for a 7 day Alaska cruise than a 9 day Southern Caribbean:( :( (or pay more than a 7 day cruise anywhere than a 9 day cruise anywhere) but it looks like AK is going to be my best shot.

Good tips on embarkation. With such a late start time, I can see how more people would just show up when they hit town and the pile up would be bigger. I don't mind so much waiting in line to get ON the ship. I just hate waiting in line to do something that I DON'T want to do...get off the ship. Freestyle disembarkation is so nice, that you don't have to be rooted out of your cabin at an early hour and herded into a public lounge with droves of your fellow passengers and their carry ons (or carry-off's, in this case).

Anyway, I digress

ddx3,

I did, with my own eyes:eek: , see large picture windows in the bathrooms (along the shower and the tub) in the AC's on deck 10 forward. The ones I saw were on the port side. The Saggitarius (sp) Suite was my personal favorite. I am trying to find out the number of that suite.

Bill, how was your AC suite...was it 10508?

Hi, Pediatrix! My wife and I are booked combining both the five day and nine day Caribbean cruises on the Spirit next month. We will be in AB Suite 10000, right in the middle. Did you happen to get a look at that suite while you were on the ship? Does it seem to be as large as the two AB suites on either side? Did you have any wind trouble with the front facing suites while the ship was underway?

Zimmerjulie,

Just returned from the 5 day Caribbean and stayed in suite 10500. Our butler was Maxi (by request) and he was fantastic. As I understand it, both Denny and Maxi will be gone after next month. Maxi is going to the Dawn, and I'm not sure where Denny is going. According to Lisa the Concierge, The Spirit is going into drydock in the fall after it finishes the Alaska route and will be fully overhauled and sent to New York. Suite 10500 (Hong Kong Suite) is a magnifcent suite and I don't know how any can be much better. I saw 10502 and that seemed very nice also but according to Maxi, any of the front AB's are preferable to the AA's in the back. Too much noise. This was my wife and I's first cruise in a suite and I have to say I'm spoiled now. We traveled with 2 other couples and the nice thing was that they got to enjoy many of the VIP perks along with us. I have pictures of the suite and as soon as I figure out how to post them I will. PS the jaccuzzi tub is fantastic in this suite.

Hi all,

I also stayed in 9212, it is an AD, the AA'S were next to it on each side, on deck nine these are aft cabins, the owners ones our on the corners, 9212 is right in the center. One of the best cabins I ever had. You can do your whirlpool thing and watch the panoramic view go by. The AC'S on 10 are the same cabin, had friends staying in one of those, higher cat because higher deck. IMO the aft was much better. I checked out the AA'S in the only difference was that the dining table has it's own little alcove.

Only drawback was some vibration in the aft, the glasses on the mini-bar rattled. Solution...was to place tissue under the glasses. Denny...just shook his head.

Have fun....

We'll be staying in one of the AD's on 03/18 (9710) Love to get a little info. Can you estimate how deep the balcony is?

Did you get any sun on the balcony, as it is all covered..

Did you have lounge chairs on the balcony?

Adequate ice buckets or bring a collapsable small cooler?

CD player?

Did you eat in the specialty restaurants? Which did you like best?

Did you wait for the diningroom?

Anything else you can tell me about the suite I'd love to hear.

Thanks so much.

9710 you should get about three feet, not deep but wide. Yes we go plenty of sun. One reclining type chair, small table, regular chair. We requested another recliner, this was no problem. We placed our chairs facing each other with the table in between, not a big deal. Wide enough to get additional chairs if you are bringing the kids. The location is great, down the hall to the elevator and stairs. Close to get food, etc.The ice bucket was always full, you also get a refrigerator, coffee pot, teapot, with the supplies to go with them. The bathroom has the whirlpool tub, double sinks. Very nice French soaps. There is a pocket door between the living room and bedroom/bath, for sleeping privacy. Note, between the bedroom and bath is a heavy curtain that you can pull. The toilet and shower are enclosed by glass doors. So ypu may need to work out some privacy guidelines, but this should be easy to manage.

You play CD'S on the CD/DVD play sound through TV, not the best but okay.

No long waits at dining, except for lobster night. Hint, you get butler service, on that night order ensuite, they will bring you anything from any dining room, on any night. So get the menus and order in advance at the time you want to eat. We went to the dining room and told an hour wait, went back to our cabin and ordered in. Still was quicker. We skipped LeBistro this time, no windows, dark, they have curtains they pull so you don't see the people walking by. I forgot the name of the Italian rest, good not great. My DH is Italian, so standards are higher here. Food was good overall, so we didn't pay for the alternative stuff.

You will be invited to at least two parties where you get drinks included. They also leave you little treats every afternoon. The AA'S get liquor set up, three full sized bottles, not a drinker, this was not worth the extra $$$ for us. Would book again, without hesitation. Will be heading your way 1/29 for a seven dayer on RC out of Miami.

We were on the seven day Alaska, Sept 2004. The only odd quirk, some fixtures low and directions in Asian writing since this was the "Superstar Leo" built for Asian clientele. Some bold colors too.

Don't forget about the priority boarding and tendering, nice not to wait in long lines.

Have a great time.

We did the seven day. Did a couple of excursions, my fav was the whale watching in B.C. We had whales all over the place close up. Went to the Medenhall glacier, very beautiful. Skagway is very small, if you go there do take the train ride, Whiteway pass, if I remember.

The next time we do Alaska, I want to depart from Vancover and do a land tour with it, so you can go farther North. The inside passage is grand and the view from the aft incrediable, seeing the whole thing left to right. I brought a bunch of my CD'S and was able to hear them on the balcony, but if you like a certain sound quality then bring what you need. Me it's coffee, so the coffee pot in the room was a nice touch. I'm going on the Voyager of the Seas, no in room coffee pot...so I am bringing my portable. I need my Starbucks!

We had 16 to 18 foot waves on our way home, they closed all the top decks, then no one was was allowed out later in the day. Some people did get sick, I didn't. The boat handled it very well in my opinion. I couldn't believe that some people complained. We had great weather everyday, the sun was out and it was in the 60's, for September in Alaska, just fine.

Where is the Spirit sailng to on your trip?

I've only done 7 days before and by day 4, I'm already depressed that wer're heading back...so I will relish my 9 days. The ports are all new for me, Barbados, Grenada, St. Lucia, Antigua, Tortola. I've done East and West Carib, but never southern. And we live in Ft. Lauderdale, and it leaves from Miami so no flight, which is great. And leaving my kids home, celebrating my Birthday which is March 16th.

We did Alaska 2 summers ago with the kids, rountrip Vancouver. We loved the trip so much that the summer after this we are going back again. We want to do a Northbound with a few days of land afterwards. I agree the further North we went, the better we liked it.

I have a great group on our roll call thread, and we just made plans for 17 of us to rent a 48' Searay to go to the Baths in Virgin Gorda. I'm really excited about getting away. I'm so overdue for a vacation. We plan on eating a lot in the specialty restaurants, as I don't mind paying for them and being able to have a reservation. One of the best perks of the suites.

Thanks for all your info.....really appreciate it.
