JanetDale Posted January 15, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2005 My family is interested in a Caribbean cruise during the summer months. Is the snorkeling good? Are there jellyfish? Thanks for your help.
SandDollar Laura Posted January 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2005 I think you should be safe in the summer months. Here in Cozumel, jellyfish season comes right after spring break. The joke here is which pest is worse, the spring breakers or the stingers! After that, we're pretty much home free, until hurricane season, that is. savandbarb Posted January 22, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 22, 2005 The answer is Yup!!!My DH and another lady got stung in martinique( Mid March). The guide said to watch out for the pink ones( my reply was Blue water neutrilizes Pink so what color are we looking out for:rolleyes: ).I had to tell a little white lie not to freak the lady out. i told her the remedy for Jelly fish stings is Asprin just take the coating off and stick it on the sting. We all know that urine is the fastest way to treat these things but I didn't want to embarass her.Just watch out for the things that look like floating Condoms:eek:
dosp Posted January 22, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2005 Those little suckers do have "seasons", but also keep in mind that tides and currents do have a profound effect on where and how long they'll be in a particular area. After several cruises at the same time of year, we were given that information only AFTER we arrived. You'll never get current conditions (especially if it's BAD) from anyone. They don't care if you get stung, they'll just show you where the stinger "juice" is located>
